"We must respect each other, treat each other as equals, and accommodate each other's core interests and major concerns."He also expressed the hope that Europe will see China "in a more objective and sensible light" and recognize that China's development is not a challenge but an opportunity."We do not expect China and Europe to see eye to eye on each and every issue, and we need not be afraid of our differences," he added."As long as we both embrace an open and inclusive spirit, we will have more consensus than differences and more mutual benefits than frictions, and cooperation will be the defining theme of China-EU relations," Yang said.As to the host country of the security conference, Yang said " China-Germany ties have maintained dynamic growth.""In the face of the complex international situation and various grave challenges, China and Germany must bear in mind the larger and long-term interests and further enhance mutual trust and cooperation," he said, adding that China is ready to join Germany "in a common effort to elevate our partnership of global responsibility to a higher level."It was the first appearance of a Chinese foreign minister in the Munich Security Conference's 46-year history.

BEIJING, March 4 (Xinhua) -- The 11th Panchen Lama has made debut in China's political arena as a political advisor at the ongoing annual session of the National Committee of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) in Beijing."This is the first time for me to attend the CPPCC meeting as a new member, so I will learn from other members," he told Xinhua while joining a panel discussion of the religious circle of the CPPCC National Committee Thursday.A day earlier, he attended the opening meeting of the Third Session of the 11th CPPCC National Committee, the country's top political advisory body.During the two-hour panel discussion from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday, he took notes from time to time when other members spoke and sometimes exchanged a few words with others around him, but he did not take the floor.During the break of the panel discussion, many other members came to chat, take photos and shake hands with him, and he kept smiling in a amicable manner."I have shouldered the mission of safeguarding national unity and ethnic solidarity since I was enthroned (in 1995). BEIJING, Feb. 21 (Xinhua) -- China's Education Ministry on Sunday warned students considering studying overseas against Australian schools run by the GEOS group after more than 40 Chinese students were left stranded with the group's collapse.More than 2,300 students in GEOS group schools across Australia were affected after the college closures. The schools were scattered across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Cairns.GEOS is a Japanese company which owns hundreds of colleges around the world. The GEOS group has run out of money for its Australian colleges,according to Australian media reports.Chinese embassies and consulates in Australia are negotiating with local authorities to settle the issue to safeguard students' legitimate rights.The Education Ministry has drawn up a recommendation list of nearly 15,000 schools in 33 countries worldwide on its website. The recommended schools are relatively trustworthy and reliable.Australia has been a preferred destination for overseas education for Indian and Chinese students.The Australian Bureau of Statistics said the number of Chinese student enrollments was 146,000 by June 2009, up an average annual 16 percent over the past six years.
