SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Wednesday afternoon, San Diego tribal leaders announced the closures of county casinos amid the coronavirus outbreak. Tribal government leaders of the Barona Band of Mission Indians, Campo Kemeyaay Nation, Jamul Indian Village, Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation, and Viejas Band of Kumeyaay Indians all announced that they were closing casinos amid COVID-19. "The Tribes are united in this decision to close for the health and well-being of the community, their guests and approximately 9,000 employees. Despite this closure, it is their hope that they can continue to provide emergency services for their respective communities," officials said. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Two days after his new show was scheduled to debut, DJ Kevin Klein remains off the air.The controversial DJ had been hired to host a morning show on 97.3, which is transitioning into a new talk format and the radio home of the Padres baseball team. But Klein seems to have thrown his job and the Padres contract into question after he posted a tweet earlier in the week that caused furious backlash online.RELATED: Padres respond after radio host's tweet causes controversy over suicide insensitivityThe tweet, sent out by a Twitter account known as “Kevin Klein LIVE," was a photo of the Coronado Bridge with the text “JUMP*....*to a new morning show.”“Mental illness and suicide are not joking matters,” said San Diego Padres Executive Chairman Ron Fowler and General Partner Peter Seidler.Klein later apologized but his show has yet to debut. An operator who answered a call at 97.3 said the show is now scheduled to air on Monday. But sources tell 10News the Padres are now demanding that 97.3 change their programming to “family friendly” content. Padres management is reportedly waiting for a plan from Entercom, the owner of 97.3, that should be presented next week.“I think it’s very complex,” said Lee “Hacksaw” Hamilton, a long-time figure in San Diego sports broadcasting.“It’s very complex for that radio station to say, ‘we’re going to blow this up before we ever launched and rethink it.’ I think it's very hard for the Padres to exit and go find a business partner.” 1526

SAN DIEGO (KGTV)— A Point Loma boy must now walk to and from school after a thief stole his custom BMX bike. San Diego Police need the public's help to find the man who took the boy's prized possession. BMX riding is 9-year-old Bradley Ramos' favorite pastime. It's a passion that runs in the family. His father, Aaron, dabbled it in as a child. So did Bradley's cousin, Tyler."This bike was actually his cousin's bike when his cousin was his age. Now his cousin is 21 years old, so the bike has been in the family for a while," Ramos said. That was, until Memorial Day morning. Bradley's mother noticed the bike was missing from their front porch."My bike and my helmet got stolen," Bradley said. The family's security camera captured a man walking away with Bradley's bike. The video shows the young man with arm tattoos wearing a hat and backpack. He looks to be wearing glasses and a distinctive white watch."It kind of sucks because I have to get rides to school now when usually, I'd ride my bike and it's way quicker," Bradley said. The bike theft is the second in as many weeks for the Ramos family. Last Monday, thieves made off with at least ,500 worth of tools from Ramos' work truck. "Since that's been happening, we've been bringing the bike in, and we didn't do it just that one night, and it was gone," Ramos said. The BMX bike has thin red wheels with a racing number plate in the front handlebars. It's not a common model, so the Ramos family is asking people to keep an eye out, and alert authorities if they spot it. To the man who made off with the Ramos' family heirloom, Bradley and his father have a stern message. "Give it back, and never come back to this neighborhood again," Bradley said. "You're stealing from a little boy. That's not cool," Ramos said. If you spot the bicycle or the man in the video, call the San Diego Police Department's anonymous tip line at 888-580-8477. 1916

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — With scorching temperatures across San Diego County, crowds flocked to the beach. While this is typical for a San Diego summer, there is one major difference in 2020.“We’re very conscious about crowds,” said Encinitas local Jennifer Marakovits. She and her husband Joe visited Del Mar Saturday afternoon. The two brought their own masks and sat watching the crowds from a distance.“It’s a matter of life or death and wearing a mask to me, it’s worth it,” said Joe.RELATED: Del Mar hiring more officials to enforce mask policies, ,000 fine possibleNearby, a Sheriff's deputy walked around. This is a new addition to the area. Del Mar’s city council voted to spend ,000 through the next four months to bring in extra deputies to help with mask and social distancing enforcement. Prior to this decision, one single deputy worked at a time, and with thousands of people visiting every day, the decision was made to help enforce county orders. The deputies will work a few four-hour shifts a week, changing the time, place, and location depending on the day.The deputy out Saturday afternoon held a stack of informational pamphlets and a box of face masks, which he handed out to anyone not wearing a mask who passed him. The goal is to keep the extra deputy taking educational actions similar to this, however, they could issue a citation that could cost up to ,000 for a violation. This money would not go to the city, but rather to the county.RELATED: What happens next? San Diego County eligible to fall off of California watch listGustavo Zabala was one of the visitors to get a mask from the deputy. He said he doesn’t like wearing a mask, but accepted one from the deputy and said he would wear one for the safety of others.“It’s not that I don’t care about the virus, I’m 100% fearless about it and I never wear a mask, but only out of respect for other people I can wear it if I walk into a place,” said Zabala. 1948
