(KGTV) - Parents in Chula Vista are horrified after finding out that dozens of children are taking part in what is being called an after-school fight club. Alain Tripp has lived across the street from Bonita Vista Middle School for more than a decade. Once the bell rings, he sees students walk along the canyon trail to go home. But lately, he has been noticing something else. “Every so often I see a group of 15-20 kids. They’ll be standing there and fighting,” Tripp said.Tripp is not the only one who has seen fighting just off campus.Other neighbors said they had witnessed dozens of kids running down the trail on minimum-day Fridays, to participate in organized fights at Discovery Park. One Bonita Vista Middle School student’s mother sent 10News a photo of what appears to be many students scattering after one of the so-called fights. Parents said the students then upload fight videos onto a secret Instagram account, seeking internet fame.“They just see a lot of people who are Youtube famous… A famous Youtuber popping up in their heads and stuff,” Tripp said. “I feel like every year, kids are trying to grow up faster.”Some neighbors told 10News that they have tried to stop the alleged fights, but they say these keep happening. Now, the school is stepping in. 10 News got a copy of the letter sent to parents from Bonita Vista Middle School Principal, Teresa Kramer. 1457

CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) -- Immigration and Customs Enforcement is investigating after a man died while in the agency’s custody. According to ICE, the 37-year-old Cameroon man, identified as Nebane Abienwi, died at Sharp’s Chula Vista Medical Center Tuesday. Abienwi was taken to the hospital in the middle of the night on September 26 to undergo treatment for a brain hemorrhage. According to the agency, medical staff at the center provided treatment after Abienwi remained unresponsive to questions and appeared to be paralyzed on his left side. He remained in the hospital until his death. According to records, Abienwi applied for entry into the U.S. without proper entry documents on September 5. (KGTV) — New businesses are set to call the Otay Ranch Town Center home in the coming months. Just a few months ago, the mall had more than a dozen empty storefronts and employees at the mall called it a ghost town. The new businesses moving in include Novo Brazil Brewing, Planet Fitness, and Barons Market.LONGFORM: Vacant storefronts reflect mall struggles at Otay Ranch Town CenterBrookfield Property Partners took over full ownership of the mall six weeks ago. It was a part of a larger merger across the country. The mall's general manager, Steven Sayers, sat down with 10News."Nothing was going wrong with the property at all. It was just, some of it was just timing with expiring leases and unfortunately, some tenants just left," says Sayers.Sayers says these new businesses were already in the works before the merger.
