GOP Sen. Rand Paul was assaulted in his home in Bowling Green, Kentucky, on Friday, according to Kentucky State Police.State troopers responded to a call to the senator's residence at 3:21 p.m. Friday. Police arrested a man named Rene Albert Boucher, who they allege "intentionally assaulted" Paul, causing him "minor injury."Boucher, 59, of Bowling Green was charged with one count of fourth-degree assault. As of Saturday afternoon, he was being held in the Warren County Regional Jail on a ,000 bond.Police were not immediately clear on why Boucher allegedly assaulted Paul. Harvard Kennedy School has rescinded its invitation to Chelsea Manning to be a visiting fellow at the school this fall, according to a statement from its dean, Douglas W. Elmendorf.Its Institute of Politics had announced on Wednesday that Manning would be one of approximately 10 visiting fellows, but the school withdrew the offer early Friday morning following controversy.Manning is still invited to spend a day at the Kennedy School and participate in a forum with students, but Elmendorf said in a statement that designating her as visiting fellow was "a mistake." 577
Grand Canyon’s entire men’s basketball team has been placed in quarantine after four players and two support staff members tested positive for COVID-19.All 14 players and two student managers are in quarantine at a designated on-campus residence hall for the next two weeks.Players began reporting for voluntary individual workouts last week and were placed in quarantine for 72 hours pending results of coronavirus tests and physicals. Four players who were asymptomatic tested positive at the end of the 72 hours and were placed in quarantine while contact tracing was conducted.Players who tested negative were placed in quarantine as a precaution and will be tested again. GUATAY (CNS) - The spread of a five-acre brush fire, sparked by a car crash, was stopped Sunday, Cal Fire said. The small fire, caused by a traffic collision on Highway 79, began at 11 a.m. near the Green Valley Campground in eastern San Diego County near Descanso, Traffic was closed in both directions of Highway 79. The California Highway Patrol escorted traffic through the area. At 12:30 p.m., Cal Fire said crews would remain on the scene into late afternoon to mop up and contain the fire. No injuries were reported in the car crash. 548
