LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A third Los Angeles police officer has tested positive for the coronavirus and was exhibiting symptoms inside the Los Angeles Police Department's Central Division station for several days this week, according to the department.The officer, who had recently returned from a vacation out of the country, was "coughing and sweating" during roll call in Central Division, which patrols areas that include downtown L.A., two of the officials said.Despite protests from several officers in the station, the affected officer was allowed to work for at least two days this week, according to the Los Angeles Times.The officer was tested for the virus, and a positive result came back Saturday, according to three law enforcement officials. Additional officers who worked with the afflicted patrol officer were expected to be quarantined, officials said.Saturday night, the LAPD reported that it had disinfected all of the officer's work spaces and common areas inside Central Division."We have also identified anyone who may have come into contact with the employee and directed them to contact their healthcare provider for evaluation," the LAPD reported.The department said it also established guidelines for all employees who either exhibit symptoms of the virus or cone in contact with someone who may be infected. (KGTV) — Long Beach Police and transit officials are investigating whether a crime was committed this week when a man in a suit dragged an unconscious, partially naked man off a train, leaving him on the platform.[Warning: graphic video] Cell phone video shows the moments when the man dragged the other man off the train at about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday. The man recording the video says the unconscious man had just suffered a seizure, Los Angeles ABC-affiliate KABC reported.The man in the suit then grabs the unconscious man's belongings and tosses them off the train and returns to his seat.The man recording the video argued with the man in the suit about what he had done. The two of them continued to argue for about five minutes before the man in the suit gets off the train to check on the unconscious man.Medics eventually arrive to help the unconscious man, who was taken to a nearby hospital. His condition is not yet clear.Police and train officials are now investigating if the man in the suit committed a crime by dragging the man off the train."Obviously, this is very disturbing and we never want to see this on our system. We're getting all the facts including reviewing the video from the train and the platform," Los Angeles Metro officials told KABC in part through a statement. 1329

LOS ANGELES (AP) — California State Parks officials are trying to solve a stinky mystery: A die-off has left hundreds of fish floating in a recently restored lagoon on the tony Malibu coast.California State Parks Angeles District Superintendent Craig Sap says Monday scientists believe the Malibu Lagoon die-off, which began last Wednesday, is very likely caused by the unusually warm water temperatures.But other possibilities include elevated nutrient levels, dropping levels of dissolved oxygen or having too many fish in the lagoon.Officials are taking water samples and fish for testing.Malibu Lagoon underwent a controversial restoration project in 2013.Sap says officials improved the ecosystem by providing better oxygen levels and the number of fish in the lagoon has since increased. 801

LOS ANGELES (KGTV) -- One person was killed and three others injured in a drive-by shooting along the route of Nipsey Hussle’s funeral procession. According to LAPD, the shooting happened at 103rd Street and Main Street around 6:25 p.m. Police say three men and a woman between the ages of 30 and 50 were shot.According to police, several suspects in a gray Hyundai shot the victims. “We must stop this senseless violence,” LAPD Chief Michel Moore said in a tweet. The shooting came as thousands of fans lined the streets of South Los Angeles to honor the life of the slain rapper. The 33-year-old rapper was shot and killed on March 31 in front of The Marathon Clothing store. In early April, 29-year-old Eric Ronald Holder Jr., an aspiring rapper and acquaintance of Hussle, pleaded not guilty to one count each of murder and possession of a firearm by a felon, along with two counts of attempted murder.Holder could face life in prison if convicted of the charges, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. Moore said Holder got into some type of personal dispute with the rapper outside the store, then left and returned with a handgun. The nature of the disagreement is still unclear.
