The Lincoln Park Academy student said she's setting new goals."That all and all encourages me to just do my best and encourage other kids that look like me to do their best so that we can change the story," she said. Jamya has five colleges on her final list and she expects to choose one this weekend. TAMPA, Fla. — New court documents show a 3-year-old girl killed in a crash last month was not properly restrained.According to police, the mother, who was driving the car, pulled in front of another vehicle around 7:50 a.m. on January 16, near the intersection of North 40th Street and East Osborne Avenue.According to court documents, three children in the vehicle were in the car on booster seats, however, the booster and car seats were not secured to the vehicle. It's the law in Florida for children to be in a car seat until they turn four years old. Children must be in a booster until they are six years old. Failure to comply can result in a moving violation and about a 0 fine. If a child is injured or killed in a crash and was not properly restrained, child neglect charges can be filed.Police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash on Jan. 18. I’m hoping it’ll be a fun way to break up some of the monotony," said Streets.With a young daughter and a second child arriving in October, Streets found himself with limited spots to set up shop inside his home.“It’ll give me a place to come and work quietly," said Streets.Instead of rakes and shovels, Streets filled the shed with all the tools he needs to help his students grow despite being miles apart.“I wanted to make this a more fun and enjoyable experience for myself, but also for the students," said Streets.The consistency of connecting in this newly-created classroom, which has been dubbed the "Mr. Streets Center for Remote Sheducation," is not only expected to help Streets stay focused; he says it will also do the same for his students.“It’ll feel more comforting, it’ll feel predictable, it’ll feel like a routine," said Streets.Streets said there's a lesson his students can learn from the new workspace and that is you have to make the best of a challenging moment.“We’re gonna have a good time, we’re gonna learn some stuff. TAMPA BAY, Fla. — About four million Kia and Hyundai vehicle owners are one step closer to receiving a piece of the nearly 0 million settlement over an engine defect linked to cars and SUVs spontaneously bursting into flames.The settlement deal, first announced last year, would cover reimbursement for past repairs and expenses, free repair or replacement of damaged engines, denied warranty coverage, and loss of vehicle value.ABC Action News I-team Investigator Jackie Callaway first exposed the cause behind these fires in the report “Up in Flames” in 2018.That’s also the year Tisha VanAllen’s 2011 Kia Optima caught fire as she was driving down a Mississippi highway.“The car started stuttering and I pulled over and when I did it was just engulfed in flames,” she said.VanAllen became trapped in the burning car.“I tried my passenger door, my driver's door, it would not budge,” she said.Panicking, she kicked at the door and window before a truck driver pulled over and wrestled the door open.“He kept yanking on the door handle until he finally got it to open up and he just grabbed me and yanked me out,” she said.The loss of her car devastated the finances of the single mother of four.
