SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A 27-year-old man suffered non-life threatening knife wounds to his back and abdomen when he was attacked by an assailant this morning in the Logan Heights community of San Diego, a police officer said.The victim was walking across a pedestrian bridge in the 2000 block of Kearny Avenue a little after 1:05 a.m. when the suspect walked up behind him and stabbed him in the back and abdomen, said Officer Robert Heims of the San Diego Police Department."The victim thought it was a punch until he felt blood and realized he was stabbed,'' Heims said. "The victim ran across the street and it is unknown where the suspect went. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A 52-year-old man was struck and gravely injured Sunday in a San Diego trailer park, and the motorist who hit him in a stolen Hummer was arrested.The incident began just after 11:10 a.m. when the San Diego police received a call from Chula Vista police who were involved in the pursuit of the stolen Hummer, SDPD Lt. Andra Brown said.The Hummer was snatched from a RoadOne impound yard in Chula Vista, SDPD Lt. Bryan Brecht told the media.The vehicle initially crashed at a gas station at 1400 Melrose Ave. in Chula Vista, but continued evading police south on Interstate 5, exiting into a trailer park at 1600 Palm Ave., Brown said.Officers tried to stop the driver but he sped away and hit the pedestrian, Brown said. It appeared the collision was intentional, Brown added.The 44-year-old driver was eventually taken into custody with help from a K-9 dog deployed to stop him, Brown said. The driver was taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries before being taken into custody. SAN DIEGO — It's a nerve-racking place: on stage, behind the mic, looking out at a sea of people waiting for your punch line.The Comedy Palace in San Diego sees many comedians but not like the one who performed Friday night."It was something I thought about even in college but lacked the courage to do it," said Michael Schmid. "I always loved to make people laugh."Schmid always had the passion, but it was a recent visit to the doctor that gave him the courage he had been lacking."If not now, when?" Schmid said.Three years ago, he was diagnosed with primary lateral sclerosis, a condition similar to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS."It had spread to my upper body and becoming more quadriplegic," Schmid said.One month ago, he made the toughest decision of his life."The most difficult thing I ever had to do in my life was to talk to my children about ending my life," he said.Schmid says he will end his life on December 27, citing severe pain. He shared the date with one of his favorite comedians, along with a dream and a request for help."My initial response was 'We're going to make this happen,' " said Lisa Alvarado.Alvarado talked with some friends in the industry to see if they'd help make Schmid's dream of performing come true."I'm talking comics with Netflix specials, Comedy Central specials," Alvarado said.In one month, the group developed a 15-minute standup comedy routine for Schmid to deliver Friday night.
