SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police identified the man suspected of a sexual assault in a Mission Beach alley as 40-year old Philemon Shark from Seattle. According to San Diego police, a 24-year old woman was walking by herself on Bayside Lane around 8:45 a.m. on Sunday when Shark attacked her. The woman screamed for help, and several residents ran out and stopped Shark before he ran away.Officers caught up to him in a breezeway and took him into custody. Shark was booked on felony sexual assault charges and outstanding warrants from Washington state, according to police.Police said Shark had been in San Diego for a few months before the assault. 653

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police are searching for the driver who struck a pedestrian with his vehicle before driving away in Hillcrest early Sunday morning. According to police, a 30-year-old man was crossing the street on the 1300 block of University when he was hit. Following the crash, the sedan fled the scene. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Normal Heights will become the testing ground for 7-Eleven's newest store strategy aimed at young consumers.The company will open a location of its "Evolution Store" concept at 3504 El Cajon Blvd. "in the next month or so," a company spokesperson told 10News.The store, geared to have a millennial appeal, will offer consumers options like made-to-order coffee and smoothie drinks, kombucha and cold brew on tap, and self-serve frozen yogurt. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Police are alerting San Diego State students and neighbors after a man reportedly tried to steal a someone's phone before fleeing in a waiting vehicle.SDSU Police say the man approached the victim at about 9 p.m. in the 5500 block of Hardy Avenue on Wednesday. The man wrapped his arms around the victim and tried to take a cell phone from their hands, police say.The victim crouched down, grabbed their cell phone, and began screaming. A passerby saw what was happening and intervened, pulling the man off the victim.The man then jumped in to rear of a white sedan with tinted windows being driven by a second suspect.Police described the first suspect as a black male who appeared about 30 years old, 6-feet tall, with average build, short curly black hair and short facial hair. He was last seen shirtless, wearing dark-colored pants and basketball-style sneakers.The suspect in the waiting vehicle was described as a 20- to 30-year-old black female, wearing a gray or white shirt and her hair styled in a bun.Anyone with information is asked to call SDSU Police at 619-594-1991. 1109

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Police are searching for two men suspected in a downtown San Diego shooting spree that left five people injured Monday night.According to San Diego police, the gunfire was reported just after 11 p.m. at several locations in the East Village neighborhood, about three blocks east of Petco Park's tailgate parking lot.The shooting happened not long after the San Diego Padres wrapped up their game against the Washington Nationals at Petco Park.Police said four people were in the 500 block of 15th Street, near Island Avenue, when two men dressed in dark clothing approached the group and opened fire.Moments later, and several blocks from the initial shooting scene, a fifth person was shot in the 1800 block of Island Avenue.All five shooting victims suffered what were considered to be non-life threatening injuries, according to police.Police said the suspected shooters were described as black men between 19-25 years old and 6 feet to 6 feet 2 inches tall. The men were last seen fleeing westbound from the area.A witness in the area told 10News that he heard about a dozen gunshots coming from different locations and two vehicles speeding from the scene. Police did not confirm if they were searching for vehicles as part of the investigation.Police are looking into the possibility the shooting was gang-related.Mayor Kevin Faulconer released the a statement Tuesday afternoon on the shooting.
