Florida State University held a vigil Sunday night for the two women fatally shot at a Tallahassee yoga studio Friday as investigators try to establish why the alleged gunman opened fire.Scott Paul Beierle, 40, posed as a customer when he walked into Hot Yoga Tallahassee on Friday evening and fired a handgun without warning, police said.The yoga students fought back, police said, but two women were killed and five people were wounded. The gunman had fatally shot himself by the time officers arrived.Tallahassee yogis as well as the health care and college communities are mourning the victims: Maura Binkley, 21, and Nancy Van Vessem, 61.On Sunday evening, FSU students and faculty came together for a vigil honoring Van Vessem -- a faculty member -- and Binkley, a student.The crowd gathered on Langford Green on Sunday evening and held up battery-powered tea candles that flickered under an overcast sky as a small choir sang, "Hymn to the Garnet and Gold.""Our hearts are broken as we gather to mourn the loss of two members of our Florida State University family and offer prayers for those who were injured and affected by this horrific attack. This hateful and despicable act has affected our community profoundly," Florida State President John Thrasher told those assembled.Authorities say it's not clear why Beierle carried out the attack. Former Judge Roy Moore continues to deny allegations of sexual abuse against him, his attorney Phillip L. Jauregui said at a news conference Wednesday, during which he attempted to cast doubt on the story of one of Moore's accusers.Jauregui specifically focused on pushing back on the accusation from Beverly Young Nelson, 56, who said on Monday that Moore sexually assaulted her when she was 16 years old. Fox News host Sean Hannity allegedly received help from the US Department for Housing and Urban Development to carry out multimillion dollar real estate deals, according to a report by The Guardian.The Guardian reported Sunday that Hannity is linked to a web of shell companies that spent at least million buying more than 870 homes across seven states over the past 10 years. The newspaper said it reviewed thousands of pages of public records to piece together Hannity's alleged property portfolio.The Fox News host bought two apartment complexes in Georgia in 2014 for .7 million, according to The Guardian. It reported that HUD helped him get mortgages worth .9 million to fund the purchases by insuring the loans under a National Housing Act program.Hannity didn't mention this link to the department when he interviewed HUD Secretary Ben Carson on Fox News in June 2017.The Guardian reported that some of the properties Hannity acquired were purchased "after banks foreclosed on their previous owners for defaulting on mortgages." The purchases were spread across states including Alabama and New York, according to the report."Hannity is the hidden owner behind some of the shell companies and his attorney did not dispute that he owns all of them," the Guardian reported. The newspaper said those shell companies are limited liability companies, which are "popular among well-known figures such as Hannity who wish to keep their business arrangements private."In an email to The Guardian, Hannity real estate attorney Christopher Reeves said the transactions were highly confidential and said, "most people prefer to keep their legal and personal financial issues private. Mr Hannity is no different." (Reeves is married to a CNN executive.)In a statement Monday morning, Hannity said, "It is ironic that I am being attacked for investing my personal money in communities that badly need such investment and in which, I am sure, those attacking me have not invested their money." For two minutes, people and traffic in Israel today paused to remember the estimated 6 million lives lost during the Holocaust.The Times of Israel reports that at 10 a.m. local time, nationwide sirens blared as a day of remembrance began. It also shared this video to Facebook: The Holocaust was a genocide during World War II in which millions of European Jews were killed by Nazi Germany led by Adolf Hitler, between 1941 and 1945.Beginning in the early 1930s, the German government passed laws to exclude Jews from civil society. Many were moved to concentration camps, ghettos and detention sites.A new survey found that Americans are beginning to lack basic knowledge about the Holocaust.The survey found that nearly half of all Americans — 41 percent — couldn't identify Auschwitz, a concentration camp where an estimated 1.1 million Jews and minorities were killed at the hands of Nazis during World War II. Among millennials, that number rose to 66 percent.The survey also found that a significant portion of Americans don't understand the scale of the Holocaust.
