LA MESA, Calif. (KGTV) -- La Mesa Police are searching for several suspects they say robbed three Grossmont High School students at gunpoint.According to the city, the students were walking westbound on Murray Drive just before 1 p.m. Wednesday when a blue Nissan Sentra pulled into a Shell gas station and stopped.The driver of the car got out of the vehicle and demanded money from the students. As the first suspect demanded cash, a passenger in the vehicle pointed a handgun at the victims.After taking money from two of the students, the suspects left the scene.Police described the first suspect as a light-skinned Hispanic man, approximately 17 or 18 years old, with brown eyes, a mustache, and groomed eyebrows.The second suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 18-19 years old, with black wavy hair and light-colored tips. LEXINGTON, Kent. - Students on the University of Kentucky campus will put a theory to the test by using more testing."Anyone who is quarantined would be tested on day three, day five, day seven, day 10, and day 14," said Dr. Robert DiPaola, the College of Medicine dean.The goal is to see if the 14-days of quarantine are a little excessive."Whether that initial testing period, so, for example, day three, or day five, or day shirk, was predictive of them being OK on day 14," DiPaola added.If enough tests come back negative in under 14 days, researchers feel as if they'd have their answers, and students might be able to get back outside much sooner."I think it's awesome," said freshman Blake Burden. "To shorten quarantine and get back to class and start socializing and seeing people again would be great."There's an added medical benefit to this program too."Mental health and well-being. LAKELAND, Fla. — An 85-year-old man was bitten by an alligator at a retirement community Monday afternoon, FWC says.Officials say the alligator was 9-feet-9-inches and trappers pulled it out of a pond Monday afternoon.It happened at the Cypress Lakes Retirement Community.The man was reportedly bitten on the foot and taken to Lakeland Regional Medical Center where the extent of his injuries are not known at this time.The community posted on its Facebook page about the incident and reminded residents about safety around alligators.Jane Rickel lives here and says trappers found the man’s white sneaker in the gator’s mouth confirming they got the right one.“His wife heard him screaming supposedly. (KGTV) -- A suspect was arrested following a robbery at a La Mesa credit union Wednesday morning.According to police, the robbery happened at the Navy Federal Credit Union on the 8700 block of Grossmont Boulevard just after 10 a.m. Wednesday.Police say the suspect brandished a knife and demanded cash after walking into the credit union.After fleeing from the business, the suspect was found driving away from the area by officers responding to the incident.The suspect, Rafeek Karamat, 35, was positively identified using surveillance video from the credit union. Karamat was booked into the San Diego County jail for robbery. 652
