SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Crime Stoppers released new video Wednesday of a suspected arsonist they believe set several fires in the Point Loma and Ocean Beach areas last month.San Diego Metro Arson Strike Team investigators say during the early hours of Sept. 28, between 12:30 a.m. and 5:03 a.m., six separate fires were started in the backyards of homes. Various items were ignited, investigators say, at the following locations:12:30 a.m. - 4500 Muir Avenue1:12 a.m. - 2100 Froude Street2:22 a.m. - 4300 Piedmont Drive2:50 p.m. - 4117 Catalina Place4:04 a.m. - 4300 Monaco Street5:03 a.m. - 3900 La Cresta DriveA white, compact SUV similar to a Toyota RAV4 was seen in the 4100 block of Catalina Place just before a fire was discovered at that location, investigators added.Video and photos show a person in a hooded sweatshirt, shorts, and sandals walking in the yard of a home where one fire ignited. In the video, the person can be seen walking with what appears to be a piece of paper in one hand and cigarette in the other, before disappearing from the video. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego Gas and Electric is warning more than 88,000 customers of a possible multi-day power shutoff due to Santa Ana Winds.According to the company, the public safety power shutoff could happen as early as Wednesday night or Thursday morning. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego Police are searching for two men believed to be involved in a robbery at San Diego State University Monday night. The robbery happened at 6:42 p.m. near the intersection of Lindeo Paseo and College Avenue. At this point it is unclear if the victim was a student or a community member. The victim told police they were pushed by one of the suspects while walking on the sidewalk. That same suspect then took their cell phone. Both men were last seen walking southbound on College Avenue. The victim described the suspects as follows:  601

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – San Diego City Councilmember Jennifer Campbell on Tuesday is expected to formally announce enforcement plans to help with concerns over crowd control in Ocean Beach.Campbell, who represents District 2, said in a news release, “Our office continues to field calls regarding increased crowds gathering at Veteran’s Plaza in Ocean Beach on Wednesday evenings. While I appreciate the San Diego Police Department’s increased presence last week, it’s clear more comprehensive action needs to be taken to keep San Diegans safe.”Residents in the area say large gatherings have been consistently happening despite San Diego County public health orders restricting mass gatherings.According to OB residents, big crowds assemble Wednesday nights at Veteran’s Plaza, and many attendees are seen not wearing masks or practicing social distancing.Ocean Beach Town Council President Mark Winkie told ABC 10News in a previous interview that residents “want people to understand this is our community. You’re welcome to be here, but you need to adhere to social distancing rules and respect our community.”Winkie has met with City of San Diego officials about the gatherings in OB. He said the city was looking to shut down Veteran’s Plaza to help with enforcement.On Tuesday morning, ABC 10News spotted city crews placing plastic netting at the park.While he said the town council is not happy the park is closing, Winkie said a closure would allow needed renovations at the park to be done.The OB Town Council has also been pushing for more education to remind people about following the rules.Winkie said he’s been told health officials will be at Veterans Plaza on Wednesday nights to spread the word about county health guidelines. 1746

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diegans are feeling the effects of a winter storm moving through the county Thanksgiving weekend. The storm is expected to dump heavy rain along the coast and snow in the mountains.Heavy rain expected throughout San Diego CountyA flash flood watch was issued from late Tuesday night through Thursday evening. According to the National Weather Service, rainfall totals of two to three inches are possible, especially on coastal mountain slopes. Some areas could also see rainfall rates of half an inch per hour. "The threat for flash flooding is greatest in the mountains below 5,500 feet through Wednesday, below 4,500 to 5,000 feet for Wednesday night through Thursday, and on the lowest elevations of the mountains for Thursday evening," the agency said. Snow expected to impact travelA winter storm warning is in effect for the San Diego County mountains from 4 a.m. Wednesday through 10 p.m. Friday. The National Weather Service says snowfall accumulations of 3 to 6 inches are expected between 4,000 and 4,500 feet, 6 to 18 inches from 4,500 to 5,500 feet, and from 1 to 3 feet above 5,500 feet. Snowfall for lower elevations below 4,000 feet of 1 to 3 inches is also expected, mostly for late Thursday through Friday.Strong southwest winds of 50 to 70 miles per hour are also expected along ridges and desert slopes.
