NATIONAL CITY, Calif., (KGTV)-- Residents and business owners in the South Bay are bracing for another round of floods. They have already seen flooding on 18th Street in National City this week, caused by the king tides. Now with the rain, many expect it to be worse. According to FEMA, businesses near West 18th Street and Roosevelt Ave. are right in a low-elevation flood zone. Ocean water travels from the San Diego Bay, up the Sweetwater Channel, and into Paradise Creek. That creek backs right into Jose's Auto Electric yard. Wednesday morning, the city shut down the road because of flooded streets caused by King Tides. During the day, luckily, the water receded before reaching the front door at Jose's Auto Electric. Check 10News Pinpoint Weather The combination of rain and king tides reminded employee Alma Ramirez of last year's disaster. She remembered 30 inches of rainwater gushing into her office and destroying her equipment. "We lost a lot of stuff, and I remembered that I forgot my purse," Ramirez said. "I said, 'Oh my purse!' And I tried to come back, but in less than five minutes, the water was already up. And I said 'Forget about it, just let me get out of here.'"If the flooding gets worse, Ramirez said she may have to move all of the low profile cars in their shop to another location to avoid flood damage for their customers.Meanwhile, neighboring businesses closer to Paradise Creek have already put up sandbags to protect their front office doors and garages. Ramirez hopes it does not get to that point for her shop.The National Weather Services estimates the Flash Flood Watch to continue through 10 p.m. Thursday. MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Attorneys for four former Minneapolis officers charged in the death of George Floyd say that each client should get his own trial, as the officers try to diminish their roles in the Black man’s death by pointing fingers at one another. A hearing is scheduled for Friday to address several issues, including whether there will be a joint trial in the case. Other issues that will be argued include defense requests to move the trial away from Minneapolis. Floyd, who was Black, died May 25 after Derek Chauvin pressed his knee against Floyd’s neck. Chauvin is charged with second-degree murder and other counts, and three other officers are charged with aiding and abetting. 700

Multiple media outlets are reporting that an alleged carjacking suspect opened fire before exiting a police wagon in Chicago, injuring three police officers. The suspect was also injured.The Chicago Sun-Times said the alleged offender was being transported in a police wagon and began firing on officers when the doors of the wagon were opened.ABC7 reports one officer was shot in the neck, a second officer was shot in the hip, and the third officer was struck in his protective vest and was uninjured.Two officers complained of chest pain during the shooting and were taken to the hospital, ABC7 reported.The suspect was injured and was taken to an area hospital, NBC Chicago reported.NBC Chicago reported the suspect was being arrested for alleged carjacking before the shooting occurred. 799

Mitsubishi Motors has followed Nissan in removing Carlos Ghosn as its chairman.The Japanese carmaker's board of directors voted on Monday to oust the auto industry legend, who was arrested in Tokyo last week on suspicion of financial misconduct while serving as chairman of Nissan.The decision is the latest blow to an alliance Ghosn built between Mitsubishi (MMTOF), Nissan (NSANY) and France's Renault (RNSDF).In a statement to the Tokyo stock exchange, Mitsubishi said that the decision by its board was unanimous. It has appointed CEO Osamu Masuko as interim chairman.The move by Mitsubishi ends Ghosn's reign at the helm of two of Japan's major carmakers. Nissan on Thursday also voted unanimously to remove Ghosn, and another director, Greg Kelly, from their posts.Ghosn retains his positions as CEO and chairman of Renault, but the French carmaker has asked other people to perform those roles on an interim basis.The Brazilian-born executive was detained by Tokyo prosecutors a week ago following an internal investigation at Nissan that revealed "significant acts of misconduct" over many years, including understating his income in financial reports and misusing company assets.Nissan CEO Hiroto Saikawa told employees at a town hall meeting on Monday that Ghosn had accumulated too much power at the top of the three-way alliance, and he was concerned this was damaging business.Ghosn has not yet commented publicly on the allegations.
