OMAHA, Neb.  - The DEA is warning police and parents to be on the lookout for marijuana and methamphetamine laced candy this Halloween. The DEA and police agencies throughout the country have seen an increase of seizures of drug-laced edibles, including but not limited to chocolates, suckers and gummies. The DEA's Omaha Division has not identified any specific threats but issued an advisory. The items are often professionally packaged and can easily be mistaken for regular candy or baked goods. Last year the DEA found marijuana-laced candies sold in packages labeled; Munchy Way, 3 Rastateers, Twixed, Keef Kat and Rasta Reese's; had been collected during Halloween.Signs of marijuana or meth-laced candy include unusual wrapping, appearance, unusual colors, odd smell, misspelled candy labels, or candy or food that is unwrapped or unmarked.Parents and caregivers should seek immediate medical attention if a child ingests drug-laced candy and then contact local police. 988

ORLANDO, Fla. — Fans are calling on Disney parks to re-theme one of their most iconic rides.A petition posted on Change.org asks Disney to remove all references to its 1946 film "Song of the South" from Splash Mountain. The petition says the movie "steeped in extremely problematic and stereotypical racist tropes." The petition suggests Disney should re-theme the ride around "Princess and the Frog." Tiana, the main character in the film, is recognized for being Disney's first African-American princess. The petition had more than 8,000 signatures as of Thursday morning. The petition's current goal is set at 10,000 signatures. The call for change comes as the country continues to hold discussions surrounding racial injustice in the wake of George Floyd's death in Minneapolis police custody.Floyd's death caught the nation's attention after bystander video showed the 46-year-old man struggling to breathe while in police custody in late May. OCEANSIDE, Calif. (KGTV) - A major turning point for the town of Oceanside was the creation of Camp Pendleton."It was just a village, Oceanside was just a village and all of a sudden you have all these workers coming into Oceanside for a place to sleep, a place to eat," said Faye Jonason, History and Museum Director at Camp Pendleton since 1996.According to the Oceanside Historical Society, the town's population more than doubled in five years. Restaurants, schools, and hotels were bursting at the seams. The Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor spurred the U.S. Navy to purchase the 132,000 acres of Rancho Santa Margarita y las Flores Mexican land grant.
