Marc Short, the chief of staff for Vice President Mike Pence, has contracted COVID-19, according to The New York Times and Bloomberg.Pence's staff says the Vice President tested negative for the virus on Saturday.According to the Times, Pence's office released a statement Saturday night saying that even though Pence had close contact with Short in recent days, he "will maintain his schedule in accordance with the CDC guidelines for essential personnel.”The announcement came shortly after Bloomberg reported Saturday night that another one of Pence's top aides, Marty Obst, had also tested positive for the virus."Today, Marc Short, Chief of Staff to the Vice President, tested positive for COVID-19, began quarantine and assisting in the contact tracing process," a statement from Pence press secretary Devin O'Malley read, according to Axios. "Vice President Pence and Mrs. Pence both tested negative for COVID-19 today, and remain in good health. While Vice President Pence is considered a close contact with Mr. Short, in consultation with the White House Medical Unit, the Vice President will maintain his schedule in accordance with the CDC guidelines for essential personnel."Short and Obst are just the latest high-ranking White House officials to contract COVID-19. Earlier this month, President Donald Trump, first lady Melania Trump and their son, Barron, all announced that they had contracted COVID-19. The newspaper reported that Cohen indicated during that conversation that "he was open to a deal," despite having "initially balked at the idea."The same source told the Journal that Cohen "resisted" making a payment to Daniels when the idea was proposed in September 2016.Daniels is a former adult film star who claims she had a consensual sexual encounter with Trump, who denies any affair.Citing individuals familiar with the matter, the Journal reported that federal prosecutors in New York state believe that the "Access Hollywood" recording may have caused Cohen to take action to keep negative stories about Trump out of the news. LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Five-year-old NeeCee, a female snow leopard at the Louisville Zoo, has tested positive for SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19 in humans, the zoo announced in a release issued Friday. The Louisville Zoo is awaiting confirmatory results of the other two male snow leopards – Kimti and Meru. All three cats are doing well with very mild symptoms. The zoo said it continues to monitor their health closely and expects all three cats to recover. No other animals are showing symptoms at this time. The three snow leopards began exhibiting minor respiratory symptoms, including an occasional dry cough or wheeze, within the last two weeks. It is suspected that NeeCee acquired the infection from an asymptomatic staff member, despite precautions by the Zoo.“Fortunately, based on clinical cases in large cats at other zoos in the country to this point, SARS-CoV-2 infection does not appear to be life-threatening,” said Dr. Zoli Gyimesi, the zoo's senior staff veterinarian. “We will be closely monitoring the snow leopards for ongoing symptoms and resampling them to identify when they have cleared the infection.”In April 2020, four tigers and three lions were confirmed positive at the Bronx Zoo in New York. Michigan's tallest man has died. Michael D. Lanier, 48, of Troy, died Wednesday, April 25 at Beaumont Hospital. He was 7 feet 7 inches tall.Lanier and his twin brother, Jim, were in the Guinness Book of Records as the tallest identical twins in the world. Michael is survived by his wife Janet “Battani” Lanier of Troy and her children Christopher Campbell of Jackson & Kathryn Campbell of Troy, siblings: Jennifer (Michael) Toomajian of Troy, James (Michele) Lanier of Greenwood, Indiana, Gary (Traci) Lanier of Plymouth, MI., Also survived by nieces & nephews: Hunter, Jared, & Jessica Toomajian, Daniel & Sarah Lanier, and Kaden, Katherine, & Karl Lanier. No details have been released on the cause of death. 759
