MILWAUKEE -- Seven people were shot at the Serenity Funeral Home in Milwaukee Wednesday afternoon, police say. Acting Police Chief Michael Brunson said all seven victims are in stable condition and are expected to survive. The victims are a 48-year-old woman, a 26-year-old woman, a 24-year-old woman, a 29-year-old man, a 26-year-old man, a 24-year-old man and a 20-year-old man.There's no word yet on what caused the shooting, and the exact circumstances that led up to it are still under investigation. Brunson said his officers continue to search for an unknown suspect."Our prayers are with the victims and their family members during this terrible time," Brunson said."This is an untenable situation. NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Grammy-winning country group Lady A has filed a lawsuit against a Black singer who has been performing as Lady A as well. The group dropped the word "Antebellum" from their name because of its ties to slavery. But blues singer Anita White, who has been releasing and performing music under that name for years, complained publicly that the band never reached out to her. Negotiations between the parties broke down. The lawsuit seeks the court to declare that the band's use of the trademark "Lady A" does not infringe on White's alleged trademark rights of the same name. MONT BELVIEU, Texas — A Texas judge has ruled a school district’s hair policy is discriminatory after two Black students were suspended for their dreadlocks. According to KTRK-TV, the decision from the judge for the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas came late Monday.The policy was at the center of controversy after a senior at Barbers Hill High School was suspended in January. District officials said it wasn’t about race or that dreadlocks weren’t allowed, just that his in particular were too long. The student was told he could not return to school or walk at graduation unless he cut his hair. He argued that his dreadlocks were part of his Trinidadian heritage.He and another student filed grievances on Jan. 27, followed by a lawsuit.
