TEMECULA, Calif. (KGTV) -- The United States Geological Survey is reporting that an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 4.4 struck near Temecula. According to the USGS, the quake hit around 6:24 p.m. roughly 20 miles east of Temecula. A 3.0 magnitude aftershock hit the same area at 6:53 p.m. Residents of the town reported feeling the quake. According to the USGS "did you feel it" map, residents all over San Diego and Orange Counties felt the earthquake. Area businesses reported feeling shaking. An employee with Clancy's Tractor Services, which is near the epicenter, says he knew right away it was an earthquake due to recent activity in the area. Check out the map below to see the epicenter of the earthquake. For more information from the USGS, click here.  821

The addition of a "notorious" galactic cantina will bring not only smugglers and bounty hunters to Disneyland in 2019, but also alcohol sales for the first time.Disneyland's "Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge" will be home to Oga's Cantina, an "otherworldy" stop for music and exotic concoctions, park officials announced Thursday.Among the cantina's limited menu options will be wine, beer, and both non-alcoholic and alcoholic cocktails, according to Disney officials. Officials added that those drinks will need to consumed inside the cantina — so no running around at light speed with a drink.Menu options for kids and those under 21 will also be available, officials promised. The "Star Wars" inspired cocktails mark the first time alcohol will be publicly sold at the park since it opened in 1955.Alcohol sales are already allowed at Disneyland's California Adventure Park and Downtown Disney. The only other area inside Disneyland where alcohol is served is inside the park’s secretive private Club 33.Oga's Cantina sits in what Disney officials are calling the Black Spire Outpost on planet Batuu. Guests will experience a classic "Star Wars" atmosphere, with music provided by a droid from the park's former Star Tours attraction, an array of characters, and more."With a history of being a smugglers’ safe haven and a popular stopping point for those seeking to avoid the authorities, you can bet that the cantina has a story or two to tell," park officials wrote.Disneyland is moving the new Star Wars land into a portion of the park's "Frontierland." The area will also include new attractions in a completely themed experience."Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge" is set to open at Disneyland Resort in summer 2019 and at Disney World in late fall 2019. 1829

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — On Friday, a judge ruled that patients approved to use medical marijuana will be allowed to smoke it.Florida voters legalized medical marijuana in 2016. The only mention of smoking in the amendment’s language and in an intent document during the 2016 campaign was that the Legislature and local governments could restrict it in public places. The Legislature last year passed enacting laws that banned the sale of smoking products, saying that it poses a health risk.Orlando lawyer and medical-marijuana advocate John Morgan filed a lawsuit that brought the case in front of a Tallahassee judge who ruled that Florida's current smokable weed prohibition is unconstitutional. On Friday, Circuit Judge Karen Gievers ruled Florida's medical cannabis patients have the right to smoke weed in private places. 835

TAMPA, Fla. — The Centers for Disease Control has just identified more than 220 strains of what they call “nightmare bacteria” that can kill up to 50 percent of the people who catch them.“I never ever thought that I would end up getting MRSA,” said Sandra Jankowski, who was infected with antibiotic resistant bacteria her father contracted during a visit to a local hospital.Jankowski believes she was infected while caring for her father at a nursing home.“He had small scrapes and other things, which meant what was there in his system was sort of out there for all the rest of us,” she said.Jankowski contracted MRSA in her eyes and she underwent treatment for months.“It's much more rampant than we realize and very difficult to get rid of,” Jankowski said. She was lucky, because her infection eventually responded to drugs. But the CDC announced Tuesday that researchers have identified more than 220 strains nationwide that don't respond to drugs.“We are learning what is the extent of the problem and how to best manage it. And that's so critical,” said Dr. Seetha Lakshmi, an infectious disease specialist at Tampa General Hospital. She says new research and better communication between local partners and state and federal agencies will help address the crisis. The first of its kind nationwide assessment released Tuesday provides new information to providers. The CDC has more than 500 employees dedicated to containing unusual antibiotic resistance.“If you're the frontline provider, how do you act on this issue? What are your resources? How do you prevent this from spreading to other places, other people?” Lakshmi said. And identifying specific strains of "nightmare bacteria" will help health care providers respond aggressively, as the CDC pointed out in a conference call today.“The containment strategy can reduce the number of nightmare bacteria cases by 76 percent,” CDC officials reported in a nationwide conference call Tuesday.A summary of the report can be found here.Lakshmi says local hospitals now limit widespread use of antibiotics, which keeps bugs from mutating as rapidly.“You take it only if you need it. Don't take it if you just have a runny nose cold with a virus,” Lakshmi said. And other practices, like frequent hand washing can also help.“What we need to do is raise awareness,” said Jankowski, who believed she contracted her infection after touching her father. One way to protect yourself from hospital acquired infections is to do research before choosing a healthcare facility, if possible. And healthcare experts say infection rates can be lower at satellite offices or clinics that specialize in specific surgeries. Most Tampa Bay area hospitals already report their infection rates. You can compare them at the following link. 2781
