Ashland University in Ohio is offering a new ,000 scholarship to talented Fortnite players."Fortnite Battle Royale" will be offered in fall 2018 as part of the university's esports program.The AU esports team will be the first known program in the country to add the game to its official offerings. Head Coach Josh Buchanan is excited to add the popular game to the college's gaming titles."Fortnite appeals to both the core and casual gaming audience," said Buchanan in a news release. "We're excited to provide this platform for gamers who want to showcase their skills in a more competitive space."The team at Ashland will arrange four-player teams that practice regularly and compete together.Scholarships will be awarded to players based on skill level and academic requirements.The university plans to conduct open tryouts for Fortnite players next school year. Ashland already offers League of Legends, Overwatch, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Rocket League in their esports program. As the NFL continues to operate surrounded by an inferno of coronavirus cases throughout the US, the league told players to wear face coverings when not actively in the game, ESPN reported on Monday.The new requirements go into effect starting with Thursday’s Thanksgiving Day slate of games.According to ESPN’s report, the NFL is requiring masks to be worn unless a player has their helmet on and is in and or about to enter the game.The league is also telling coaches that face shields alone are no longer adequate, and face coverings or double-layer gaiters must be worn during games.The NFL is limiting the number of players on the travel roster to 62. The league is reducing the number of members of the media who can cover team practices.The NFL releases weekly figures of COVID-19 cases. The league tested a total of 7,856 tests to players and staff. Last week, there were 17 new COVID-19 cases reported among players, and 35 among coaches and staff. Authorities will begin distributing an experimental Ebola vaccine in Mbandaka, a major city in the Democratic Republic of Congo, on Monday to try to stop the spread of the deadly virus.Healthcare workers in Mbandaka, the capital of Equateur Province and home to 1.2 million people, will be the first to receive the vaccine, World Health Organization spokesman Tarik Ja?arevi? said.The confirmation of the first case in Mbandaka last week has raised concerns that the virus could spread faster than expected. At least 105 people are dead after an earthquake rocked the Indonesian island of Lombok over the weekend, state media reported Tuesday.Another 236 people have been injured in the quake, according to the government's disaster management spokesman Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, who told the Antara News Agency that the casualty numbers could rise as the search continued for survivors.More than 20,000 people have been displaced since the 6.9-magnitude quake struck Lombok, a popular tourist destination, on Sunday night.The epicenter of the earthquake was in northern Lombok, a more residential and less developed part of the island. Most of the tourist resorts are located on the southern side of the island.Most of those killed were struck by falling debris from collapsed buildings, according to Nugroho.
