DESCHUTES COUNTY, Ore. -- A missing Oregon baby was found naked and lying in the dirt by a detective last week near Bend, according to authorities.On May 10, deputies say a man, identified as Brandon Blouin, came out of the woods asking for law enforcement after losing his 1-year-old son.Blouin told deputies that he and the baby's 18-year-old mother, along with the child, were staying in the forest when the woman walked away and didn’t return.Blouin went looking for the woman. He told deputies he set the 1-year-old down and left him.Deputies say Blouin is believed to have been under the influence of a controlled substance when he decided to walk away.The child was found by the detective about one mile away from the vehicle the family had been staying in. The baby was found lying naked in the dirt, according to deputies. Blouin was arrested on several charges. 889

Detroit police are investigating after a teen was shot in the back of the head while live on Instagram.According to police, it happened in a home in the 17600 block of San Juan on the city's west side.Police say just before midnight, two 18-year-old men were live on Instagram with guns and money. Per the suspect, he accidentally put his finger on the trigger and discharged the rifle, striking the other 18-year-old in the back of the head in the living room.Police and medics arrived on scene and pronounced the man dead.The other 18-year-old was taken into custody.  583

DENVER (AP) — A black bear broke into a Colorado house over the weekend and left by breaking through a wall "like the Kool-Aid Man."Estes Park police say the break-in occurred Friday night and that the animal was likely attracted to trash.A Facebook post by the police department said: "Upon officer's arrival, said bear forcibly breached a hole in the wall like the 'Kool-Aid Man' and made its escape."The Denver Post reports no one was injured.Colorado Parks and Wildlife said bears entered over 35 vehicles and nine residences in the Estes Park area in the 10 days before Aug. 3. DEL MAR, Calif. (KGTV) - A woman was struck and killed by a Coaster train during rush hour Wednesday.The Coaster came to a stop at 111 11th Street in Del Mar. Deputies from the Sheriff's North Coastal Transit Enforcement Unit arrived at the scene around 5 p.m. Deputies say the northbound Coaster Train was traveling around 48 mph when it struck the woman, killing both she and her dog as they attempted to cross the tracks. Both the woman and the dog died at the scene. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the Sheriff's Department's non-emergency line at (858) 565-5200. 620

But what you might not expect is to see girls reciting the pledge, with the boys.A meeting just outside Denver, Colorado is one of the first meetings since girls have been welcomed to join Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts.Girls across the country can join Cub Scouts in August. But 8-year-old Caroline Graham is one of the first as a part of their early adopter program. And for her, it's not just about getting to participate in scout traditions. But getting to do more of what she loves; camping."You get to be outdoors," Graham said. "And you get to make way more friends."Until now, her dad would bring her along on some trips with her brothers, but as a girl scout, she often had to stay behind."I really wanted to go cause my brothers got to go," Graham said. "And now I actually can.""Every time we'd pull out of the driveway on her way to a camping trip her last though was, can I go?" Caroline's dad and den leader Andrew Graham said. "And we'd say not this time. But now that's gone."Andrew Graham says he's glad his daughter will be able to have the same opportunities as his sons."We're not trying to turn them into boys by no stretch of the imagination," said Andrew Graham. "We want them to just turn into the same leaders we're developing our boys to turn into.
