"Not only did the doctors' offices help confirm it, but the state confirmed they also had the same information."Tuscaloosa City Councilmember Sonya McKinstry says it's up to young people to be responsible and avoid contact others if they're sick. She said the students' behavior is only slowing down a return to normalcy and putting the lives of their loved ones at risk."I just think it's senseless. I think it's careless. And it makes me mad as hell that you know we're constantly trying to do everything we can to slow the spread of the virus while they're just having a damn party trying to spread it," McKinstry said.The University of Alabama plans to reopen campus to students for in-person classes this fall. Officials have not said if the students hosting and attending the "coronavirus parties" are enrolled at the capstone.Young people in Alabama wouldn't be the first to hold "coronavirus parties." CORONADO, Calif. (KGTV) - Every June 6 that passes marks one more year since a historic day in world history: D-Day. Coronado local Tom Rice was there. He was part of the 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division.Seventy six years ago, Rice jumped out of a plane onto the beaches of Normandy, not knowing it would become a turning point in World War II. Since 1944, Rice works to commemorate the day. In recent years, he’s returned to France to re-enact D-Day, jumping out of a plane like he did during the war. This year, it’s different. Coronavirus has impacted his ability to travel overseas, so he has a new way to honor the day. It started with Carentan, the area in France where he usually jumps, deciding to ring a bell at 6:44 p.m. to commemorate the June of 1944 date. Then, Rice and his army of friends in San Diego decided to turn it into something larger. At 6:44 p.m. local time, Rice rung a bell at the Coronado Naval Base, and he wasn’t alone. Friends and supporters all rang bells at the same time to mark the anniversary. “Globally the bells will ring for thee. For those who died, who were captured, who suffered all the deprivations that war can bring,” said Rice. New Jersey-based B&G Foods, which makes Cream of Wheat hot cereal, said it’s reviewing its logo, which features a smiling black chef holding a bowl of cereal. Cream of Wheat's packaging includes an image of a black chef. In early advertisements, copy refers to the chef as "Rastus" — a term now considered a slur. The name refers to a minstrel show caricature of a stereotypically happy black man. Uncle Ben's rice, which also uses a black man's portrait on its packaging, said it planned to "evolve" the brand, but did not offer specifics.And Chicago-based Conagra Brands says its female-shaped Mrs. Butterworth's bottles are intended to evoke a “loving grandmother.” But the company said the packaging could be misinterpreted.
