SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Demonstrators gathered Friday outside San Diego Police Department's headquarters and marched through the streets downtown in protest of the Wisconsin shooting of Jacob Blake.Sky10 was live overhead as protesters marched through the streets, some carrying flags, to demonstrate. The gathering occurred on the same day as the March on Washington in the nation's capital, where thousands rallied on the 57th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech.SDPD shut down Broadway and E Street between 14th and 15th streets, on the north and south sides of downtown SDPD headquarters in preparation for the protest. A flyer for the demonstration advertised the event as being in solidarity with protesters in Kenosha, Wisc., where Blake, a 29-year-old unarmed Black man, was shot seven times in the back by a police officer on Aug. 23.Officers have not said what led up to the shooting, but video shot by a neighbor shows Blake walking to an SUV and attempting to enter it moments before an officer grabs him by the shirt and shoots him.Blake is reportedly paralyzed from his wounds and recovering in a hospital.Sky10 video showed one individual being detained by police during the gathering. Police say they stopped a vehicle following the crowd after it ran at least one red light. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Fifty-three undocumented immigrants were arrested by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement over the last week in San Diego County.Arrests took place in Santee, Vista, Encinitas, Chula Vista, Escondido, Oceanside, Imperial Beach, and San Diego, according to ICE officials.The five-day operation targeted individuals with final orders of removal, who have re-entered illegally after being removed, who have violated federal law, or whose detainers were not honored and were located after release from jail.RELATED: ICE arrests 115 immigrants in Southern CaliforniaOfficials said of the 44 arrested, criminal histories included vandalism, hit-and-run, driving under the influence, and other drug offenses. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Despite having the most coronavirus cases of any local university, large off-campus parties continue to be an issue for San Diego State University and nearby residents.Students living off-campus have been attending large parties, according to neighbors. As of Saturday, SDSU had 1,184 COVID-19 cases, 767 of those cases being reported in off-campus students.Locals living in the College Area says many students continue to ignore public health orders and hold large, loud parties with no physical distancing or mask wearing."It's really frustrating and at this point, I feel like there's not a lot that we can do because you know those people, they're just going to keep doing what they're doing," one neighbor said.In a statement to ABC 10News' reporting partner KPBS, San Diego State says more than a hundred notices of violations have been delivered to residences in the college area.The university also contracts elite security to keep an eye on the neighborhood surrounding the school for any violations. If a security guard notices a party, they call police to respond.As of Friday, Cal State San Marcos had reported 18 total COVID-19 cases, three of which were off-campus. At UC San Diego, there have been 106 coronavirus cases since March 1, with three being reported since Oct. 1.
