Musician T.I. was named in an investigation by the Securities and Exchange Commission on Friday in a fraudulent initial coin offering scheme.The SEC said T.I. will not be criminally charged, but settled on a ,000 fine and he has agreed to not participate in offerings or sales of digital-asset securities for at least five years.Film producer Ryan Felton is facing criminal charges, allegedly promised to build a digital streaming platform for FLiK, and a digital-asset trading platform for CoinSpark. Instead, Felton allegedly misappropriated the funds raised in the initial coin offerings, the SEC said.Felton is facing charges of violating registration, anti-fraud, and anti-manipulation provisions of the federal securities laws.T.I. was allegedly involved in promoting Felton’s scheme. The SEC said that T.I., and his social media manager William Sparks, Jr., offered FLiK tokens on T.I.’s social media accounts.“The federal securities laws provide the same protections to investors in digital asset securities as they do to investors in more traditional forms of securities,” said Carolyn M. Welshhans, Associate Director in the Division of Enforcement. “As alleged in the SEC’s complaint, Felton victimized investors through material misrepresentations, misappropriation of their funds, and manipulative trading.”Felton was also accused of manipulative trading to inflate the price of SPARK tokens.The SEC said that Felton made an addition .2 million in profits, and used money he allegedly misappropriated to buy a Ferrari, a million-dollar home, diamond jewelry, and other luxury goods. 1608

MLB and the league’s player union held negotiations this week, days after a contentious series of statements between the league and union indicated the 2020 season is in peril.The league and players are working on a plan to begin the 2020 season after it was postponed by the spread of the coronavirus. With most professional sports leagues coming back this summer, MLB has yet to formalize a plan for resumption.MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred said that a new set of proposals have been forwarded to the players.The tone from Manfred on Wednesday differed from earlier in the week.“We left that meeting with a jointly developed framework that we agreed could form the basis of an agreement and subject to conversations with our respective constituents,” Manfred said. “I summarized that framework numerous times in the meeting and sent Tony a written summary today. Consistent with our conversations yesterday, I am encouraging the Clubs to move forward and I trust Tony is doing the same.”Earlier on Wednesday, reports surfaced that the league and players have finalized a deal, but those reports appeared to be premature as the MLBPA said that no agreement has been made.At odds is the number of games to be played, and whether players will be paid a full prorated amount for those games. MLB said that based on an agreement between the leagues and players days after the league suspended Spring Training, players would only be paid a full prorated salary if games were held in front of fans. MUSKEGON, Mich. - Organizing school supplies such as crayons, notebooks, and folders then packing them into backpacks is a labor of love for Muskegon sisters Payton and Madelyn Chittenden.“If you see something wrong, you should at least try to fix it,” said Payton.The sisters are working to make a difference for students this school year.“We donate school supplies to kids that… can’t afford it,” said Madelyn.In July, FOX17 introduced the sisters and their mission to collect school supplies for their classmates with families impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.They figured they would be able to pack a few dozen backpacks, but as the donations picked up so did the project’s impact.“It’s just making those kids smile and not worry about the coronavirus,” said Melissa Chittenden, mom.Melissa says monetary and supply donations have added to over ,000, which is enough to create more than 950 backpacks for kindergarten through fourth-grade students at Reeths Puffer Schools, Muskegon Public Schools, Holton Public Schools, and Fruitport Community Schools.That’s 15 to 25 kits per grade at each district’s elementary schools.“It means so much to me as a parent that this is what my kids are focusing on during a time with the corona, they’re not really worried about catching the germs, they’re worried about what can we do to make this a better place?” said Melissa.Teachers will distribute the kits to their students once classes start.Payton and Madelyn believe it could connect students during a year in which not much can be shared and teach them all a lesson of love.“It doesn’t matter if you’re helping a little or a lot, you’re still changing the world,” said Madelyn.“It will help them learn and they will know that they’re special and someone cares about them,” said Payton.Marisa Oberle from WXMI in Grand Rapids, Michigan first reported this story. 1876

(KGTV) -- An investigation is underway to find the driver in a hit-and-run crash that critically injured a skateboarder.National City police say the man was skateboarding with friends on Palm avenue around 12:30 a.m. when a vehicle traveling northbound hit him.The vehicle fled the scene, leaving the victim on the street when officers arrived. Paramedics rushed him to UC San Diego Medical Center with serious head injury, according to police.Witnesses tell police the driver was a woman.
