The Navy’s newest, most high-tech nuclear submarines use at least one piece of technology that millions of children use every day — a video game controller.According to The Virginian-Pilot in Norfolk, Virginia, the Navy is replacing traditional periscopes on its Virginia-class nuclear submarines with high resolution cameras that will be controlled with Xbox 360 controllers.According to the Virginian-Pilot, the cameras were originally designed to be controlled with a “helicopter-style” joystick. That design was quickly dropped after officials got feedback from a group of Navy junior officers.Lt. j.g. Kyle Leonard, the assistant weapons officer on the USS John Warner — one of the Virginia-class submarines based in Norfolk — told the Virginian-Pilot that many sailors found the joystick clunky to hold and hard to use.The solution? Integrate a tool that nearly every American kid uses on a daily basis.According to WRC-TV, the controllers are more than just functional. The mother of a Michigan high school student cried in court as a judge said her son's million bond would remain in place, but that he would consider written arguments from the teen's defense attorney next month.  The 17-year-old DeBruyne, a South Lyon High School student is charged with Making a Threat of Terrorism, which is a felony, after the teen allegedly asked friends on Snapchat if they wanted to reenact what happened at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida where 17 people were killed days earlier. One friend reported the post to police. DeBruyne lives in Green Oak Township with his parents, and after receiving report of the alleged threat, police went to the family's home where they said the teen had no firearms in his possession. Friends and some fellow students on South Lyon High's Cross Country team and their parents showed up at court Wednesday in support of DeBruyne. "I don't think Ryan DeBruyne is a danger to anybody," said Michelle Klevering who also called her son's friend a "very good kid" and "very responsible."DeBruyne's defense attorney, Zack Glaza, asked Judge Travis Reeds to consider lowering his client's million dollar bond. Judge Reeds said he would consider written motions on the matter on March 22 when DeBruyne is due back in court for a preliminary examination.   1391

The House of Representatives successfully completed an override of a presidential veto for the first time since the Obama administration on Monday. With overwhelming majorities in both caucuses, the House issued an override of the National Defense Authorization Act.The bill needed a two-thirds majority for a successful override.The bill returns to the Senate, where it will also need a two-thirds majority to pass.The veto was President Donald Trump’s ninth since taking office. Eight previous vetoes were successfully sustained.The National Defense Authorization Act provides the Pentagon with 0 billion in funds, and authorized pay raises for members of the armed forces.Trump objected to the bill due to the Pentagon’s policy of renaming US bases that are named for confederate leaders. Trump also used the legislation as an opportunity to state his grievances on Section 230, a US code that offers legal protection for internet sites and social media companies.A number of Republicans have joined Democrats in condemning Trump for objecting to the defense funding bill.“It’s definitely been erratic at the end here,” Republican Rep. Adam Kinzinger said in a Monday interview on MSNBC. “I think he’s more focused on grievances than finishing out strong… The NDAA, veto of that makes no sense, but hopefully, we override that. Section 230, if you have a real issue with Section 230, that’s fine but the defense bill isn’t the place to deal with it. That’s through the Energy and Commerce Committee and others.”Overrides of presidential vetoes are relatively rare. President Barack Obama had just one of his 12 vetoes overridden. President George W.
