CORTEZ HILL (KGTV) - A woman's body was found in the courtyard of an apartment building in Cortez Hill, near Little Italy.Police were called around 3:30 p.m. to the Atmosphere apartment complex on 1453 Fourth Avenue.San Diego Police and San Diego Fire-Rescue personnel arrived a few minutes later. The 42-year-old woman had traumatic injuries to her body, and was pronounced deceased at the scene, police said.Police say the woman may have jumped from the 8th floor, but the homicide unit was called to the scene out of caution.Neighbors say they've seen police at the complex often, "most people say that this is just domestic violence dispute or something like that I’ve never actually seen anybody arrested, I have seen an ambulance here and people hauled away in the ambulance," neighbor Tom Hochrein said.He's lived in San Diego for 19 years and just moved to this neighborhood last year, "this area seems a little shaky here."Neighbors were concerned this time something severe happened, "someone must’ve said something about homicide or somebody you know jumped out the window or was pushed out I don’t know," Hochrein said.A woman who lives in the building said she feared for the safety of her family, especially her 18 month old son. She said the police knocked on her door and questioned her and her husband about whether they heard anything an hour prior.When she went downstairs, she found police tape across an elevator and parts of the floor where police were still investigating, "I'm scared, I have a family. I feel okay that the police are here but I really hope they find the suspect soon," she said.The sidewalk was closed for about 3 hours, while the investigation took place. COSTA MESA, Calif. (AP) — The Los Angeles Chargers could explore bringing in Colin Kaepernick for a workout depending on what happens during the preseason, but right now, nothing is scheduled. Coach Anthony Lynn says Kaepernick is on the team's workout list because he fits the style the Chargers are looking for. CORONADO, Calif. (KGTV) -- The City of Coronado has completed a bridge study in an effort prevent suicides on the Coronado Bay Bridge.The study, conducted by Caltrans, shows that two-thirds of those surveyed say they are in favor of adding a physical barrier on the bridge.The study showcases a number of options for adding a barrier, though there are several popular options.RELATED: Caltrans reveals possible suicide barriers for Coronado Bridge?Among the most popular options is a wire mesh fence that would cost up to million. CORONADO, Calif. (KGTV) -- Two Good Samaritans say they saved a man off the ledge of the Coronado Bridge late Monday night. They said they spotted him while driving home from San Diego, and couldn't help but turn around to get him. 10News Photojournalist Zach Wonderlie talked to them about the life-saving rescue"We were driving from the San Diego area to Coronado and I noticed a kid sitting on the ledge," said Aiden Leavitt. The driver of the car, Charles Crehore, instantly sprung into action - deciding to back up on the empty bridge and help save the man's life. "I'd actually thought about this. I'd thought, 'If if I ever get in that situation, what am I gonna do?" Crehore said. "And I decided if it comes to me and I'm there...I'm stopping my car, I'm gonna get out and I'm gonna stop them."As he backed up to where the man stood on the bridge, Leavitt jumped out of the passenger side and bear-hugged the man on the bridge. "I just didn't hesitate. I just jumped out of the car and I grabbed him," Leavitt said. The man didn't fight back as Leavitt pulled him into the car, and allowed the friends to drive him to Sharp Coronado Hospital. It wasn't long before his family and police showed up to help.The men say they're grateful that they were in the right place at the right time. "I just hope that he works his way through whatever it is that he's having trouble with," Crehore said.If you or a loved one is experiencing symptoms of depression, the number to the San Diego Crisis Hotline is 888 - 724 - 7240. 1626

CLEVELAND, Ohio - We’re a little over a month away from Thanksgiving and health officials are more concerned than ever thinking about spiking coronavirus cases as families may be planning to gather for the holiday.“We had seen a decrease in cases from our peak, of course, which was in July and we were down into the 40s per day of receiving cases until the mid-last week. Then it started to go up from there," said Romona Brazile, Interim Co-Director of Prevention and Wellness Services at Cuyahoga County Board of Health. "Of course, we want to see our families, but limiting the number of people, still trying to practice social distancing even if it is in your own home, still wearing a mask."Dr. Anthony Fauci, Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease agrees. His own family is now sacrificing not seeing each other as his children worry about his age and possible exposure to the virus.“Don't assume that because you're in your own home with your own family that you're not going to spread infection,” he said.Even traveling to see our families is risky. Dr. Fauci said travel on planes and public transportation could increase exposure to the virus.Instead, the CDC is offering up some suggestions on ways you can still have a holiday celebration with friends and family while being safe.The agency said celebrating virtually is your best bet, but if you do meet up in person make sure you stay outside as much as possible and avoid crowds. The CDC also said gatherings with more preventive measures in place pose less risk compared to gatherings with fewer or no preventive measures at all.After any holiday celebrations, you should stay at home as much as possible, avoid crowds and those considered at risk.
