At least one person has died and six were injured after a crane fell onto an apartment complex in downtown Dallas, according to Dallas Fire-Rescue spokesman Jason Evans. The crane fell onto the Elan City Lights apartment complex, with the worst of the damage on the eastern residential side and a parking garage for the building, Evans said. Dallas firefighters have live-find rescue dogs on scene to search the property for missing and injured people."This is a really challenging situation in the sense that I cannot personally recall that we've had a crane collapse that involved an already inhabited building," Evans said. Most of the crane collapses that have been dealt with, Evans said, involve the crane collapsing onto itself or onto a building that's vacant or under construction."Our hearts go out to everyone who has been impacted by this incident. We only hope that the damage that's been inflicted thus far is where it stops."Three patients were taken to Baylor University Medical Center, according to hospital spokesperson Deke Jones.Jones says one patient is in critical condition, another is in serious condition, and the third was treated and released.Three other patients were taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, but a spokeswoman for Parkland could not give CNN condition updates.Crane collapse caught on video Multiple videos of the crane collapse show the crane rocking back and forth before eventually falling. Several witnesses told CNN they saw the crane falling."Woke up poolside to a full-on tornado warning, which hit the construction site next to us and sent debris flying all over downtown Dallas," tweeted journalist Rory Cashin with a video of debris being blown off a tower in Dallas. "I think I'm ready to come home now...""A crane fell over in an apt. complex in downtown dallas from the storm. Hope everyone is okay," 1875

Attorneys representing Marshae Jones, the pregnant woman indicted in the death of her unborn child after being shot in the abdomen, have filed a motion asking a judge to dismiss all charges against their client.Jones' attorneys say the charges are "completely unreasonable and unjust" and based on a "novel legal theory not available or supported under Alabama law," according to the motion filed in Alabama Circuit Court on Monday.Last Thursday, a Jefferson County grand jury indicted Jones, 27, on a manslaughter charge, which is a Class B felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison.Jones was five months pregnant on December 4, 2018, when she got into a fight with a woman outside a Dollar General store in Pleasant Grove, just west of Birmingham, 766

As nearly 200,000 people remain under evacuation order from threat of wildfire, some of the millions of people in Northern California on track to get their electricity back may not have power restored before another possible round of shut-offs and debilitating winds.Pacific Gas & Electric Co. has notified more than 1.2 million people that they may have their electricity shut off for what could be the third time in a week and the fourth time this month.Meanwhile, more than 2.4 million people who lost electricity over the weekend were awaiting restoration as hurricane-force winds whipped through the state, fueling a wildfire in Sonoma County as smaller spot fires cropped up.Fire conditions statewide made California "a tinderbox," said Jonathan Cox, a spokesman for the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. Of the state's 58 counties, 43 were under red flag warnings for high fire danger Sunday.Gov. Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency in response to the wildfires, powered by gusts that reached more than 102 mph (164 kph). The Kincade Fire in Sonoma County, which started Wednesday, grew to 85 square miles (220 square kilometers), destroyed 94 buildings and was threatening 80,000 buildings, state fire authorities said Sunday night. In the San Francisco Bay Area, two grass fires briefly halted traffic on an interstate bridge. The flames came dangerously close to homes in Vallejo. Another grass fire closed a stretch of interstate that cut through the state capital as smoke obstructed drivers. In the south, a wildfire in the Santa Clarita area near Los Angeles destroyed 18 structures. As of Sunday, the Tick Fire was 70% contained. Early Monday, a brush fire broke out along the west side of Interstate 405, north of Sunset Boulevard and near the Getty Center in Southern California. The Los Angeles Fire Department called the fire "a very dynamic situation due to high winds" and issued mandatory evacuation orders for people living from the top of Mandeville Canyon Road down to Sunset east of the freeway. To prevent power lines from sparking in high winds and setting off more blazes up north, PG&E said Sunday that power is out to 965,000 customers and another 100,000 have lost electricity because of strong gusts, bringing the number of residents impacted by blackouts to nearly 2.7 million people. The biggest evacuation was in Northern California's Sonoma County where 180,000 people were told to pack up and leave. 2480

As the State of Massachusetts is considering a ban of youth tackle football, parents and former NFL players rallied on Tuesday to fight the proposed ban. Massachusetts Youth Football Alliance led the rally at the Massachusetts capitol, urging lawmakers to vote against the ban. Under the law, flag and touch football would still be permitted at all ages. The bill would prohibit schools and organizations from allowing children in the seventh grade or younger from participating in tackle football. The law would be punishable by a ,000 fine. Former Patriots linebacker Andre Tippett expressed his opposition to the proposed legislation. "As a lifelong participant and fan of the game of football, I've seen firsthand how the values of character, leadership, discipline, resilience and teamwork can play an immeasurable role in the development of young boys and girls that participate in youth tackle football," Tippett said in a statement to NFL.com.But bill sponsor Rep. Paul A. Schmid III told the Herald News that the bill is about protecting children. “It’s all about kids’ health and we have a number of studies that say that repeated contacts to the head are very bad for you and the younger that starts, the worse it is,” Schmid told the Herald 1269
