Hours after Roseanne Barr blamed her use of sleep medication Ambien for a racist tweet, the makers of the drug responded with a tweet of their own."People of all races, religions and nationalities work at Sanofi every day to improve the lives of people around the world,"  Sanofi US, the makers of Ambien, tweeted. "While all pharmaceutical treatments have side effects, racism is not a known side effect of any Sanofi medication."Dictonary.com's Twitter account also trolled Barr's excuse, tweeting "The name Ambien is thought to come from the word "ambient" or similar words in French. Ambient does not mean "prone to making racist comments," but it does mean "of the surrounding area or environment.""In a since-deleted tweeted on Tuesday night, Barr said she was "Ambien tweeting" when she sent a racist tweet about a former Obama aide Valerie Jarrett on the night of Memorial Day."guys I did something unforgiveable (sic) so do not defend me. It was 2 in the morning and I was ambien tweeting-it was memorial day too-i went 2 far & do not want it defeneded-it was egregious Indefensible. I made a mistake I wish I hadn't but...don't defend it please. ty,

HEAR clips from the 911 calls in the video above.COLERAIN TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- A 911 call reveals a desperate dad's anguish and an unusual twist as he chased the thief who stole his SUV with his three kids inside Saturday afternoon. The panicked dad was riding with another driver he apparently didn't know. The good Samaritan driver said he saw the thief take off from the parking lot in a suburb of Cincinnati and told the dad to get in his car. Then they chased him together."Oh my god, he stole my truck! My kids are in the truck!" a man who identified himself as Courtney Wells yelled in a 911 call. "I'm in the car with somebody. We're chasing him. He stole my kids! Please, I got three kids in that car."The dispatcher asked Wells to calm down and tell him where they were driving. After a few moments, Wells came to a shocking realization."Did he turn? Oh my god, I think we lost him," Wells cried. The driver told the 911 dispatcher that he just happened to be there when the thief took off."I saw what happened so I said, 'Come on!"The thief sped off and crossed the center line several times trying to elude them, police said."We were so close. We were right there ... Oh, god, he was flying," the driver said on the 911 call. The suspect got away from them, but all ended well when the children - two 4-year-olds and a 1-year-old - were found safe and the suspect was arrested, police said.Someone claiming to be the father later posted a Facebook message that thanked the driver who helped him. He mentioned that the driver is wanted by police."Thankyu big s/o for all the help. He chasin this car down wit 5 warrants ... God was watching ova my babies," the post said.Police said 33-year-old Howard Mullis stole the SUV just before 2 p.m. after the father went in the Pit Stop convenience store. Police said he left the engine running with the three kids in the backseat.Mullis had been hanging around outside the store for hours, said an onlooker."The guy had been sitting right in front of this trash can all morning long, so I guess he was just waiting on somebody to pull up," said Keith Lipscomb.Another man said he heard the commotion in the parking lot. He got choked up talking about it."I heard somebody hollering and screaming that they are stealing my car and they have my kids in the car," said Dennis Cooke. "You got me kind of teary-eyed. Thinking about that ... it could have been my kids."A harrowing 2 1/2 hours later, the children and the SUV were found about a mile away at 8401 Colerain Ave., outside America’s Best Contacts & Eyeglasses, near Walmart. #BREAKING: Colerain police spokesperson tells me this is the suspect who is wanted for kidnapping 3 children @WCPO pic.twitter.com/A5Ks58kshR— Ashley Zilka (@ashleyzilka) March 3, 2018 2891

GRANT COUNTY, Ind. -- Two people are dead after two small planes crashed at an airport in Grant County Monday evening in Central Indiana. The crash happened around 5 p.m. at the Marion Municipal Airport off in Marion. According to the Federal Aviation Administration, a single-engine Cessna 150 collided on the ground with a Cessna 525 CitationJet. Preliminary investigation indicates that the Cessna 150 was attempting to take off at 5:09 p.m. when it struck the tail of the Citation, which had just landed. "The airport in Marion does not have an air traffic control tower," the FAA said in a statement. "Pilots using the field are expected to announce their intentions on a common radio frequency and to coordinate with one another while on the ground and in the traffic pattern."The Cessna 150 was carrying two people and the Citation had five passengers on board. Grant County Coroner Chris Butche says two people were killed in the crash."FAA investigators are on their way to the scene, and the National Transportation Safety Board has been notified," the FAA said in a statement to RTV6. "The NTSB will be in charge of the investigation and all updates." 1189

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The Grand Rapids Police Department (GRPD) is investigating after vandals defaced gravestones at a Jewish cemetery with pro-Trump graffiti on Monday — just hours before the President delivered his last campaign speech of the current election cycle at a local airport. The vandalism occurred at the Ahavas Achim Cemetery in Grand Rapids. "TRUMP" was painted on the back of four headstones, while "MAGA" was written on two of them. The paint appeared to have been applied on Monday. Police say don't have a lead on any suspects, and no evidence was left at the scene.Michigan Jewish Democrats released a statement on the vandalism on Monday evening."The Michigan Democratic Jewish Caucus is appalled and outraged by the desecration of Ahavas Israel cemetery in Grand Rapids, a year after the city's reform synagogue was vandalized with antisemitic imagery, and on the day Donald Trump is slated to close his campaign with a rally in Grand Rapids," the organization said in the statement.Rep. Justin Amash, I-Michigan, who was born to Arab-Christian parents, also tweeted about the incident Monday evening, condemning the anti-semitism shown in the vandalism. 1183

Here's what's making headlines in the political world on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2019:Lawmakers gather for border security meeting -- Democratic and Republican congressional leaders are expected to attend a briefing on border security at the White House as the government remains partially shut down and President Donald Trump asks in a tweet, "Let's make a deal?"The partial government shutdown began on Dec. 22. Funding for Trump's pet project, a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border, has been the sticking point in passing budgets for several government departments. The briefing is scheduled the day before Democrats are to assume control of the House and end the Republican monopoly on government. Read more Trump lashes out at Mitt Romney -- President Donald Trump fired back at Mitt Romney after the Republican senator-elect penned an op-ed saying Trump "has not risen to the mantle of the office.""Here we go with Mitt Romney, but so fast! Question will be, is he a Flake? I hope not," Trump tweeted, referring to retiring Arizona Sen. Jeff Flake, a Republican who has criticized the President often in the last few years. "Would much prefer that Mitt focus on Border Security and so many other things where he can be helpful. I won big, and he didn't. He should be happy for all Republicans. Be a TEAM player & WIN!"Romney, who is set to take office Thursday, criticized the President's character in a Washington Post op-ed Tuesday, saying that Trump's "conduct over the past two years, particularly his actions this month, is evidence that the President has not risen to the mantle of the office." Read more Unsanitary conditions reported at National Parks amid shutdown -- Human feces, overflowing garbage, illegal off-roading and other damaging behavior in fragile areas were beginning to overwhelm some of the West's iconic national parks, as a partial government shutdown left the areas open to visitors but with little staff on duty. The partial federal government shutdown, now into its 11th day, has forced furloughs of hundreds of thousands of federal government employees. This has left many parks without most of the rangers and others who staff campgrounds and otherwise keep parks running. Read moreCNN and AP reports compiled by 10News 2260
