ROME, Jan. 14 (Xinhua) -- The China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative is not only an attempt to revive the historical trade route, but also a new opening-up strategy in response to changing domestic and international circumstances, said a German-based Chinese scholar Saturday.
"China firmly opposes the use of chemicals as weapons by any country, any organization or any person under any circumstances," said Liu. "We strongly condemn any attacks against civilians."
This is another new area of national significance after the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone and the Shanghai Pudong New Area, according to a circular issued by the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and the State Council.
Since the year 2000, China lengthened its three major public holidays -- Spring Festival, May Day and National Day -- from three days to seven days. They soon became known as "golden weeks," when people can travel and gather with families, boosting travel and hospitality sectors' revenue.
"We have taken note of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov's remarks that Russia and the United States agree that the only solution to the Korean Peninsula unclear issue is political," Lu said.
