RAMONA, Calif. (KGTV) - A 20-year-old Ukrainian man was shot and killed in Ramona this week, according to Sheriff's investigators.Ivan N. Nivinskus, of Ramona, died of apparent gunshot wounds Sunday just after 8:30 p.m., investigators said. The San Diego County Medical Examiner has ruled Nivinskus's death a homicide.San Diego Sheriff's deputies said deputies were called to the 15900 block of Wood Rock Lane for reports of possible gunshots and someone yelling. President Donald Trump says he did not address reports from U.S. intelligence agencies that said Russia paid bounties to the Taliban in exchange for the deaths of American soldiers in a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin last week.Trump made the comments in an on-camera interview with Axios reporter Jonathan Swan.Trump said his July 23 phone call with Putin was a call "to discuss other things," particularly nuclear proliferation.The president also claimed that the report "never made it to his desk," even though several media outlets have spoken to administration officials that have said the report was included in a daily intelligence briefing in February.Trump also referred to the intelligence as "fake news," and added that "a lot of people are saying that it's a fake issue."When pressed on intelligence reports that Russia has supplied weapons to the Taliban, Trump seemed to justify the Russians' actions by citing the fact that the U.S. sold weapons to the Taliban when the group was fighting the Soviet Union decades ago. RALEIGH, N.C. – The Associated Press has declared President Donald Trump the winner in North Carolina, though Joe Biden is still projected to win the presidency. The AP concluded Friday that there were not enough outstanding ballots remaining to be counted in the state that would allow Joe Biden to overtake Trump’s lead of 73,697 votes.Friday was the deadline for counties in North Carolina to certify their results. Following updates from most counties in the state, Trump leads Biden by 1.3 percentage points.Trump campaigned aggressively in North Carolina with in-person rallies at the height of the coronavirus pandemic, including gatherings in Fayetteville, Winston-Salem and Greenville in the weeks before the election.He was scheduled to hold the Republican National Convention in the state but pulled out after a fight with the state’s Democratic governor over coronavirus restrictions. It was moved to Jacksonville, Florida, before being largely canceled all together.Trump’s win in the Tar Heel State puts the president at 232 electoral votes and Joe Biden remains at 290 votes.Biden is still projected to win the presidential election, since he has surpassed the 270-vote threshold needed to claim victory.The only state the AP has yet to call is Georgia, which is conducting a recount because neither Biden or Trump leads by more than .5 percentage points. President Donald Trump says he has issued a pardon to his longtime ally Roger Stone, according to a statement from the White House.Stone, who was convicted of several crimes in connection to the investigation launched by Special Counsel Robert Mueller, was set to begin a 40-month prison sentence on Tuesday."Roger Stone is a victim of the Russia Hoax that the Left and its allies in the media perpetuated for years in an attempt to undermine the Trump Presidency," the White House statement read. "There was never any collusion between the Trump Campaign, or the Trump Administration, with Russia."Stone was briefly and advisor to the Trump campaign during the 2016 election. Though he left the campaign in controversy, he still supported Trump and the campaign on his behalf. He's alleged to have made contact with WikiLeaks, the organization that published a trove of hacked emails linked to the Clinton campaign.Stone was convicted of seven counts of lying to Congress, obstruction of justice and witness tampering in connection with his testimony during a House Intelligence Committee and his attempts to have a friend lie to investigators on his behalf.Upon his conviction, federal attorneys recommended Stone serve a prison sentence of between seven and nine years. However, the Department of Justice quickly rescinded that resignation, calling it excessive. In response, all the federal attorneys on the case resigned, and Attorney General Bill Barr was criticized for his department's rescinding of the recommendation."Mr. Stone would be put at serious medical risk in prison. He has appealed his conviction and is seeking a new trial," the White House statement read. "He maintains his innocence and has stated that he expects to be fully exonerated by the justice system.
