When it comes to saving lives, seconds count. And now, thanks to improving technology, drones are proving to be a game changer in an emergency.Dozens of people’s lives were saved last year with the help of drones, according to drone maker DJI.  The company said from May of 2017 to April of 2018, 65 people were rescued with the help of a drone. DJI reviewed media reports to come up with that number and included documentation in its recent report released this year.Firefighters, search and rescue teams and other members of law enforcement are using drones to survey an area much faster from the air than people can on the ground.“During a search and rescue operation we can see body temperature, Romeo Durscher, DJI’s Public Safety Integration Director, said.Drones carry more than simple cameras. Everything we do is about taking the load off the end user. We want to replace human functions on the battlefield with a robot,” Holden said.Drones have helped find a woman with dementia in Randolph County, North Carolina. She had wandered into a nearby field. Drones dropped a life preserver to flood victims in Sichuan, China before rescue crews arrived to save the victims. An infrared camera-equipped drone located a crash victim who became unconscious after leaving his car to get help. WILSON, N.C. - The Wilson (North Carolina) Police Department have arrested and charged a man in connection to a Sunday night shooting that left a five-year-old boy dead.Police say 25-year-old Darius N. Sessoms has been charged with first degree murder and has received no bond.Sessoms was found inside a home on Monday in Goldsboro after a warrant was put out for his arrest in connection to the shooting that took place Sunday night.According to officials, on Sunday around 5:33 p.m., officials received a call regarding a shooting.5-year-old Cannon Hinnant was found suffering from a gunshot wound. White House adviser Stephen Miller is pushing to expedite a policy that could penalize legal immigrants whose families receive public benefits and make it more difficult to get citizenship, three sources familiar with the matter tell CNN.The White House has been reviewing the proposal since March at the Office of Management and Budget, which is the last stop for regulations before they are final. But concerns over potential lawsuits have delayed the final rule, and the draft has undergone numerous revisions, multiple sources say.The crux of the proposal would penalize legal immigrants if they or their family members have used government benefits -- defined widely in previous drafts of the policy.The law has long allowed authorities to reject immigrants if they are likely to become a "public charge" -- or dependent on government. But the draft rule in its recent forms would include programs as expansive as health care subsidies under the Affordable Care Act, as well as some forms of Medicaid, the Children's Health Insurance Program, food stamps and the Earned Income Tax Credit.The rule would not explicitly prohibit immigrants or their families from accepting benefits. Rather, it authorizes the officers who evaluate their applications for things like green cards and residency visas to count the use of these programs against applicants and gives them authority to deny visas on these grounds -- even if the program was used by a family member.Two non-administration sources close to US Citizenship and Immigration Services, which would publish and enforce the proposal, say that Miller has been unhappy by the delay and has pushed the agency to finish it quickly.
