MIAMI SHORES, Fla. (AP) — Authorities say a Florida police officer’s wife died after becoming trapped in the back of his patrol vehicle for several hours during a hot afternoon. Investigators are treating the death of 56-year-old Clara Paulino as an accident. She died Friday afternoon while her 58-year-old husband Aristides Paulino was sleeping in their Miami Shores home after finishing a midnight shift. The Miami Herald reports Paulino woke up around 5 p.m. and started looking for his wife, finding her cell phone on the back patio. He and one of his sons found Clara in the vehicle. Officials say she had climbed into the backseat of his marked SUV to find something when the doors somehow closed, and a self-locking mechanism engaged. The vehicle has a partition between the back seat and front seat, meaning Clara could not reach the horn. “It’s literally a cage,” one Miami police officer familiar with the vehicle told the Miami Herald.Temperatures reached over 90 degrees as she spent about four hours in the vehicle. 1037

Many Starbucks locations will close on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. local time to allow for employees to participate in racial-bias education. All Starbucks company-owned retail stores and corporate offices will be closed in the afternoon of Tuesday, May 29. MACOMB TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A Michigan model for American Girl Dolls is opening up about her health. Alyea Rourke, who has modeled as the Hawaiian American Girl doll Nanea Mitchell, says she's been diagnosed with a disease so rare it took nearly two years to diagnose."It seemed like a giant dream to me. I was just so scared I immediately thought I will never be able to skate again," the now 14-year-old said.Alyea was diagnosed with chronic recurrent multi-focal osteomyelitis (CRMO), a potentially serious and unique form of bone disease that can be long-lasting. Right now, there's no known cure, doctors say. "They described to us was possibly an ear issue, or it was an infection in the jaw or it could’ve been a tooth decay or something like that. MAMMOTH HOT SPRINGS (EastIdahoNews.com) — An Oregon man who officials say was caught on camera harassing a bison in Yellowstone National Park was arrested late Thursday night.Raymond Reinke, 55, of Pendleton, Oregon, was apprehended by Glacier National Park rangers around 10:45 p.m.Reinke had been traveling to multiple national parks over the last week, according to a Yellowstone National Park news release. On July 28, he was arrested by law enforcement rangers at Grand Teton National Park for an alleged drunk and disorderly conduct incident. He spent the night in the Teton County Jail, and was released on bond.Park officials say Reinke then traveled to Yellowstone National Park. Rangers stopped his vehicle for a traffic violation on July 31 and he appeared to be intoxicated and was argumentative, the news release says. He was cited as a passenger for failure to wear a seat belt and authorities believe after the traffic stop, Reinke encountered the bison.A passerby captured the incident on camera and the video has been seen millions of times with the majority of viewers expressing outrage at Reinke’s behavior.Yellowstone rangers received several wildlife harassment reports and issued Reinke a citation Wednesday evening before the video surfaced.On Thursday, rangers connected Reinke’s extensive history, and after seeing his alleged wildlife violation, the Assistant U.S. Attorney requested his bond be revoked. The request was granted and a warrant was issued for Reinke’s arrest Thursday.Reinke had told rangers that his plans were to travel to Glacier National Park so park rangers at Glacier began looking for his vehicle Thursday night. Around the same time, rangers responded to the Many Glacier Hotel because two guests were creating a disturbance. Rangers identified one of the individuals involved as Reinke.“We appreciate the collaboration of our fellow rangers in Glacier and Grand Teton national parks on this arrest. Harassing wildlife is illegal in any national park,” Yellowstone National Park Superintendent Dan Wenk said in a statement.Glacier rangers transported Reinke to Helena late last night, where they met Yellowstone rangers. Yellowstone rangers transported Reinke to Mammoth Hot Springs and booked him into the Yellowstone Jail. He is scheduled for a court appearance Friday. 2329
