That can came from a grocery store.This type of exposure could make people with compromised immune systems or lung disease sick.To put that number of colonies into perspective-- a flooded home could have 2,000-plus colonies of mold, while a condemned home could have roughly levels around 36,000.However, microbiologist Helene Ver Eecke, with the Metropolitan State University of Denver, says the 600 colonies of mold isn’t really a cause for concern.“Regular microbial load that we are constantly dosing ourselves with everything that we touch with everything we breathe,” Ver Eecke says. “It's just part of being human.”One soda can did test for bacteria levels that would be slightly concerning. The can—purchased from a convenience store--had the highest levels, with 3,700 bacteria colonies on it.But compared to dry cereal mixes, which can have up to 100,000 bacteria colonies and deemed safe to consume by FDA standards, the colonies found on that can were significantly less."There was one sample that came from a convenience store that had a higher bacterial count than samples, which makes sense because they were probably stocked probably appropriate for people to wear gloves when stocking," explains Ver Eecke.If you’re worried about the amount of bacteria, Ver Eecke recommends seeking other options."There may be other options for you a bottle or other things to try to help keep you safe." 1901

I think now it’s over 500,” said Schuster.Doubled in Denver and nearly doubled across the US.According to the US Census, in 2013 there were almost 3,300 food trucks in the US. So, they’ve got to be hurting just like all of us are,” said Chucri.But with challenges come opportunity so Maldonado and Schuster got to work and got creative.“We started going after some of the business to serve some of the front line workers during the pandemic so we started serving some of the workers at King Soopers who were working their butts off through the whole thing. We fed some the Aurora 911 services, the ambulance services because they were working their butts off. We started doing hospital servings. We found a way to find where people were hungry, working still, needed to eat, and just didn’t have a lot of viable options,” said Schuster.Getting creative to get by. Just like a lot of us over the last several months.One thing that doesn’t change, wherever Maldonado and Schuster serve food, they serve it with heart.“When people come back to the truck for seconds and thirds, because they just want to try every flavor of slider we have, even when they’re stuffed. There have been 80 confirmed cases of the polio-like illness known as AFM in 25 states this year as of Friday, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Monday.In addition, there are 139 cases under investigation for a total of 219 confirmed and suspected.This is eight more confirmed cases than the agency reported last week and 20 additional patients under investigation.The CDC noted an increase in reports of patients under investigation who began experiencing symptoms in August, September and October. It has not identified the 25 states with confirmed illnesses, nor has it said how many states are reporting cases under investigation.AFM, or acute flaccid myelitis, is a rare illness that affects the nervous system, especially the gray matter in the spinal cord, and can cause muscle weakness and sudden onset of paralysis.
