Three days.The Trump impeachment inquiry is charging into a crucial week as Americans hear from some of the most important witnesses closest to the White House in back-to-back-to-back live sessions.Among them, Ambassador Gordon Sondland, the wealthy donor whose routine boasting about his proximity to Donald Trump is now bringing the investigation to the president’s doorstep.The witnesses all are testifying under penalty of perjury, and Sondland already has had to amend his earlier account amid contradicting testimony from other current and former U.S. officials. White House insiders, including an Army officer and National Security Council aide, will launch the week’s hearings Tuesday.It’s a pivotal time as the House’s historic inquiry accelerates and deepens. Democrats say Trump demanded that Ukraine investigate his Democratic rivals in return for U.S. military aid it needed to resist Russian aggression and that may be grounds for removing the 45th president. Trump says he did no such thing and the Democrats are just out to get him any way they can.On Monday, Trump said he was considering an invitation from Speaker Nancy Pelosi to provide his own account to the House, possibly by submitting written testimony. He is scheduled to close out the week Thursday.Tuesday’s sessions at the House Intelligence Committee will start with Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, an Army officer at the National Security Council, and Jennifer Williams, his counterpart at Vice President Mike Pence’s office.Both are foreign policy experts who listened with concern as Trump spoke on July 25 with the newly elected Ukraine president. (KGTV) — Two men were arrested after stealing a car and crashing into another vehicle Tuesday in the North County.The two men carjacked a driver at gunpoint just before 3 p.m. in the 900 block of Postal Way in Vista, according to San Diego Sheriff's Department. After yanking the driver out of his vehicle and taking off, the two men soon crashed into another vehicle, before fleeing.A detective who happened to be in the area heard the call over the radio and started searching for the suspect, SDSO said. When he spotted the suspects, he began to follow them and relay directions to an SDSO helicopter overhead.Deputies took over and a brief pursuit began. The two men crashed into a curb and fled the vehicle. Deputies caught both men after a foot chase.SDSO said a loaded gun and illegal drugs were discovered in the vehicle.SDSO said the two men, identified as Joseph Laxton and Ricardo Hernandez, were arrested on charges of carjacking, hit-and-run, a felon in possession of a firearm, drugs, violating parole, threat causing death or great bodily injury, and participating in a criminal street gang. 1128

(KGTV) — Two brothers are behind bars after deputies say they got into a road rage incident and robbed a driver in Vista.On Tuesday, just before 9:30 a.m. near the 1300 block of Melrose Way, San Diego Sheriff's Department says Matthew, 29, and John, 23, Giordano were driving in a lifted grey Silverado pick-up truck. Deputies say for some reason, Matthew became angry and began to follow another vehicle and displayed a weapon to the driver.At one point, the truck cut off the driver and came to a stop, deputies say.Deputies said Matthew got out of his truck and started punching the driver's side window. Once the driver opened the door, Matthew took about ,000 worth of jewelry and money from the driver, deputies added.During the confrontation, John used a metal tool to smash the driver's windshield and the windshield of a second car not involved in the original incident, deputies say. The brothers then drove off.One of the victims suffered minor injuries from broken glass. Damage to both cars was estimated between ,000 and ,000.SDSO investigators say they gathered enough evidence to serve a search warrant in the 1500 block of Sapphire Lane, where the Giordanos were arrested on several charges, including conspiracy and robbery. 1271
