(KGTV) - Two Sheriff's deputies are under an internal review after video surfaced of an arrest in the North County this week.A 911 call was made Monday from a woman on Madera Lane, who said she was a domestic violence victim and being held against her will, according to the San Diego Sheriff's Department. Deputies responded and said they ultimately arrested Gerardo Martinez Jr., 23, and 50-year-old Gerardo Martinez Sr.MAP: Track crime happening in your neighborhoodThe younger was booked on charges including false imprisonment, assault with a deadly weapon, and disobeying a court order. SDSO charged Martinez Sr. with obstructing a public officer and removing someone from the lawful custody of a peace officer, though he has bailed out of custody.Video of the arrest, however, soon landed at least two deputies involved with the arrest in hot water.The footage posted on social media showed one of the men being led away in handcuffs before a deputy appears to shove him into a fence. The man's face is slammed into the wooden fence before the deputy leads him away.At the same time, four other deputies hold the second man to the ground, one of them appears to repeatedly strike the man in the head. It isn't clear if the man on the ground was also handcuffed or whether the deputy struck the man with a closed fist or open hand.Two deputies have been placed on administrative assignment, pending an internal investigation, SDSO said Wednesday. (KGTV) — Jurors have reached a verdict in the trial of a documented Escondido gang member accused of killing a passing motorist while attempting to shoot rival gang members.Dionicio Torrez Jr., 25, was charged with murder in connection with the death of 55-year-old Catherine Kennedy.Friday, jurors found Torrez Jr. guilty of first-degree murder with a special-circumstance gang allegation, attempted murder, and shooting at an occupied vehicle. (KGTV) -- The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department is searching for a man who disappeared from a care facility.The department tweeted just after 1 p.m. that 36-year-old Berhane Piong went missing from the facility on the 2220 block of Bosna Place in Vista.Piong has a developmental disability and has the living and decision-making skills of a 12-year-old, authorities say. He will only respond when called by Berhane.Piong was last seen wearing his favorite camouflage hoodie jacket, black sweatpants and blue sneakers.Anyone who spots him is asked to call 911. 586

WASHINGTON — House Democrats will investigate whether Postmaster General Louis DeJoy encouraged employees at his business to contribute to Republican candidates and then reimbursed them in the guise of bonuses, a violation of campaign finance laws. Rep. Carolyn Maloney, House Oversight Committee chair, announced the investigation Tuesday. The Washington Post reports that five people who worked for DeJoy’s former business were urged to write checks and attend fundraisers at his North Carolina mansion. Two former employees said DeJoy would give bigger bonuses to reimburse them.
