A North Carolina air traffic controller was arrested Friday for allegedly having a weapon of mass destruction, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said.Paul George Dandan, 30, a worker at the Charlotte Douglas International Airport, was charged with acquiring, possessing and transporting a weapon of mass destruction, police said in a statement.Last week, police received a 911 call that someone had a homemade explosive at a Charlotte home. When officers arrived, they found a homemade pipe bomb, authorities said.Investigators said another man, 39-year-old Derrick Fells, built the bomb to "use it against a neighbor with whom he was involved in an ongoing dispute." But Fells changed his mind and gave Dandan the device, police said.Both men were arrested Friday, but it's unclear how they knew each other.Fells was charged with three counts of manufacturing a weapon of mass destruction and one count of possession of a weapon of mass destruction, police said.Police did not say what Dandan's intentions were or whether he took the bomb to the airport.The Federal Aviation Administration said Dandan's access to the airport "was terminated."In a statement, the Charlotte Douglas International Airport said Dandan did not have access to any aircraft."The FAA employee only had access to the "offsite air traffic control tower and had no access to the restricted areas of the terminal or ramp," the statement said.The FBI describes a weapon of mass destruction as any explosive, incendiary, or poisonous gas, including a bomb, grenade or rocket that has an explosive or incendiary charge of more than four ounces."Any weapons designed or intend to cause death or serious bodily injury through the release, dissemination, or impact of toxic or poisonous chemicals, or their precursors," the FBI says on its website. 1834

Those filings include allegations one of the neighbors blared the “Gilligan’s Island” theme song and other music on loop at all hours to annoy the other neighbor, according to the Los Angeles Times.Billionaire Bill Gross and his partner are accused by tech entrepreneur Mark Towfiq and his wife of harassment and intentional infliction of emotional distress.It’s all about a 22-foot-long and 10-feet-high blue glass art installation, and the pole-and-netting structure around it, that Towfiq claims blocks his view, according to the Times. It was created by Dale Chihuly, a renowned artist known for his blown-glass work, including in the lobby of the Bellagio hotel in Las Vegas.It was installed in 2019, but apparently didn’t upset the neighbors until this year when the netting was installed around it after it was damaged, according to city records obtained by the Times.In July, Gross was sent a letter from the City of Laguna Beach that said the netting, lighting and sculpture lacked the proper permits.Apparently, that’s when things escalated.Gross is accused of blaring music at all hours, including the “Gilligan’s Island” theme song, apparently in an effort to force Towfiq to drop the complaint.The two have both filed temporary restraining orders against the other, both are pending in court. 1409

A terrifying email scam using stolen passwords and sextortion is trying to scare many out of their money.There are variations of the blackmail threat, but in most cases, a password that someone once used or is still using appears in the subject line of the email.The hackers claim to have "evidence of your secret" after installing malware on adult video sites.The email explains web cameras were hacked and recordings were made of the person watching the pornography.The hackers then demand anywhere from ,000 to ,600 in bitcoin or the video will be released to all contacts, including family members and co-workers."It's a non-negotiable offer, thus please do not ruin my personal time and yours," one hacker wrote. "The clock is ticking.""It's really electronic blackmail," cybersecurity expert Tim Dimoff said. "This is a very well-structured blackmail. Boy, it looks believable."However, it's all a nasty scam. There are no videos and the hackers may have one of your passwords, but they don't have all of your information."If you look in the body of the email, they're not using your name. They're not saying what specific website you might be going to and they don't have a screenshot of you," said Christy Page, the president and CEO of the Better Business Bureau in Akron.Page said more than 130 complaints have reported nationwide through BBB's scam tracker.It's not clear how many of those people gave up the ransom, but it's estimated 0,000 has been paid this year by people frightened by the threat."The fear of embarrassment can be very powerful to get you to part with your money," Page said.Dimoff and Page said the hackers likely used the dark web to buy passwords that were stolen during data breaches and the hackers can be very difficult to track.Page said anyone who receives the email should not pay any money or respond to it.  However, passwords should be changed immediately.In addition, Page said people should consider using a password manager and a web camera cover for extra peace of mind. A viral video showing security camera footage taken in Chula Vista on Halloween night may help restore your faith in the honor system. Kim Manalo's family joined the throngs of trick-or-treaters racing door-to-door in their neighborhood.  Manalo wanted to keep the spirit of Halloween alive at her home while they were out, so, she left a bowl filled with candy outside their door with a note asking people to help themselves.  Her hope was that people would leave a treat for the next candy-seeker."We came home to an empty bowl and hoped there weren't greedy kids that didn't leave some behind for others," Manalo wrote on her post.She studied security footage to see if perhaps someone grabbed more than their share of goodies. What Manalo found on her security camera video was a surprise that almost made her cry."Instead we found this clip of a wonderful soul who shared some candy from his own bag to keep the halloween spirit going for other kids," Manalo wrote.RELATED: Meet the boy whose generous act went viralThe video shows one of the boys reach into his bag and place some of his own candy in the bowl for the next trick-or-treaters. “He didn't even know the camera was there,” Manalo said. “None of his friends knew and to take that second out of his time from his own stuff just really warmed my heart.”10News posted the surveillance video on Facebook after Manalo's friend shared the footage with reporter Joe Little.  The video has garnered hundreds of reactions, shares, and comments."If only all of us raised our children to be so thoughtful even when no one is seemingly looking.
