SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A Los Angeles-area mainstay could be making its San Diego debut by the end of the year.Plans for San Diego's first Roscoe's House of Chicken and Waffles are reportedly back on the table, 10News has learned.A contractor told 10News' Jon Horn the restaurant would be located on National Ave. in Barrio Logan. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A local sailor got an emotional holiday surprise thanks to the generosity of some frequent fliers.Navy diesel mechanic Joe Ramsay just learned his brother is flying in for the holidays."Don't really have the words to describe it," said Ramsay.Ramsay has been stationed in San Diego for more than two years. After hernia surgery this summer, his finances got stretched. There would be no trip home to North Carolina for the holidays."I was going to spend it with friends or alone. That was pretty much my plans," said Ramsay.That wasn't the plan for Ramsay's brother Trey, who entered a contest put on by New York entrepreneur Peter Shankman. The businessman decided to collect and donate hundreds of thousands of airline miles in hopes of reuniting families."Just wanted to get to my brother for the holidays. I haven't seen him in a year or so," said Trey Ramsay.In his entry, Trey called his brother "the closest person in my life," adding the family hasn't been able to visit Joe since he arrived in San Diego. San Diegan Rhys Ford, a mystery writer who travels for her job, donated 45,000 miles and two tickets."It's seeing people reuniting. It's the fact that somebody's so excited to get on a plane. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A Halloween carnival at the Rancho Bernardo Community Park could be saved with a controversial decision.The park is short-staffed and in desperate need of volunteers.The City of San Diego allows people to volunteer one time per year without needing the usual criminal records check.Some parents are concerned about who would be volunteering near their children.The City sent 10News an email Friday indicating only volunteers who passed a background check would directly supervise or interact with children.Any volunteer does not go through a background check will be in support roles such as setting up tables and directing traffic. 669

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A new poll shows that a majority of San Diegans support stricter gun laws in the U.S.A Survey USA poll released Sunday morning shows that 71 percent of those asked in San Diego support stricter gun laws while 18 percent say they oppose tighter gun restrictions.Meanwhile, 32 percent of those asked say even private gun ownership makes the country less safe while 29 percent says it makes no difference.Of those asked about safety, 76 percent of San Diegans say they worry their child could be a victim of a school shooting.RELATED: San Diegans rally for gun control in March for Our Lives eventsWhile 73 percent of people polled say they don’t know anyone who’s ever been a victim of gun violence, 27 percent of those polled say they worry a great deal about being a victim of a shooting.As far as a possible solution, 77 percent of people polled say Congress needs to do more to address gun violence.
