ALPINE (CNS) - A motorcyclist was killed Friday afternoon in a collision with a truck on a rural East County road.The crash occurred shortly before 4 p.m. on Japatul Valley Road, near Bell Bluff Truck Trail in the Alpine area, according to the California Highway Patrol.The motorcyclist died at the scene of the accident, which left the two-lane roadway blocked into the early evening, the CHP reported.The victim's name was not immediately available. 459

AGOURA, California — The movie set ranch featured in the HBO television series “Westworld” and almost 500 other productions was destroyed in the Woolsey Fire, Santa Monica Mountains park rangers tweeted Friday.The piece of Hollywood history, known as “Western Town” at Paramount Ranch, was located in Agoura. With its rolling hills and canyons, it was used to create an Old West look for film and television shoots.Paramount Studios bought the 2,700 acre ranch in the golden era of Hollywood. According to the National Park Service, the permanent Western Town was built in the 1950s and posed as Tombstone, Arizona, and Dodge City, Kansas.In addition to “Westworld”, the set also served as the home of “Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman” and episodes of Gunsmoke. Actor Kelly Preston has died at age 57. John Travolta, Preston's husband of 28 years, confirmed late Sunday that his wife had died after a two-year battle with breast cancer. Preston enjoyed a lengthy career in film and television, appearing in “Jerry Maguire,” “Twins” and at times starring with her husband in films like “Battlefield Earth” and “Gotti.” The couple was married in 1991 in Paris after meeting on a film set, and had three children together.
