Two students are injured — one of which is in critical condition — after a school shooting took place Tuesday at Great Mills High School in southern Maryland.The gunman died following the attack according to police officials.Jonathan Freese, a student at Great Mills, told CNN he was in lockdown in his math class. Police were going through classrooms to clear the school, and students will then be escorted out of the school, Freese said."I'm still a little shaken up," he said.Freese said the school had held drills a couple of times for this kind of situation."I didn't really expect for this to happen. I do always feel safe, though, because they always have police at the school," he said.According to CNN's research, there have been 16 confirmed school shootings this year in the United States prior to today.  Great Mills High School has an enrollment of just over 1,500 students, and the student body was about 56% minority students and had a four-year graduation rate of 91%, according to the school's 2015-16 improvement plan.Last week, students at Great Mills High School walked out of class as part of a student-led protest against school violence in the wake of the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.Al Murray shot video of police responding to the shooting at the high school Tuesday. US President Donald Trump took aim at two of America's closest allies in a speech at the NRA convention, saying strict gun laws failed to prevent the 2015 terrorist attacks in Paris and highlighting a purported increase in knife violence in London.The comments provoked anger in both France and Britain.France was especially incensed after Trump, while speaking at the gun rights convention in Dallas on Friday, pointed his hand as if it were a gun while describing how each of the victims in Paris was fatally shot."They took their time and gunned them down one by one -- boom, come over here, boom, come over here, boom," he said.The French foreign ministry issued a statement Saturday after Trump's comments."France expresses its firm disapproval of President Trump's remarks ... and calls for the respect of the memory of the victims," it said.Francois Hollande, who was the French President during the 2015 attacks, tweeted Saturday:"Donald Trump's shameful remarks and obscene histrionics say a lot about what he thinks of France and its values. Two journalists from WYFF-TV based out of Greenville, South Carolina were killed Monday afternoon when a tree fell on their SUV while covering a storm that was causing flooding in the area, the station confirmed. WYFF anchor Mike McCormick and WYFF photojournalist Aaron Smeltzer were killed by the tree that landed on the SUV. The incident happened in Polk County, North Carolina. Tryon Fire Chief Geoffrey Tennant told WYFF that the SUV's engine was running when authorities reached the scene around 2:30 p.m. on Monday. The tree was reportedly 3 feet in diameter. Heavy rain in the area caused the roots of the tree to fail, Tennant told the station. "It personally affected me a little bit because I had done an interview with Mr. McCormick about 10 minutes before we got the call. And we had talked a little bit about how he wanted us to stay safe and I wanted him to stay safe and of course 10 or 15 minutes later we got the call and it was him and his photographer," Tennant said. "It's the first time I ever met either one of those two gentleman, but you feel a sense of responsibility to them."McCormick joined the station in 2007 as a reporter, and was promoted to anchor in 2014. Smeltzer joined the station in February.  1310

Tyler Walker is a self-described people person, which is a good thing because he spends most days working one-on-one taking pictures, specifically headshots, of people.“For me, headshots are a way to get people confidence, show them their value. I love doing that one-on-one,” he said.Walker runs KC PRO Headshots out of a studio in the West Bottoms neighborhood of Kansas City, Missouri.Wednesday may be one of the busiest days in his studio’s history. He hopes to take headshots of 50 different people in one day and he’s doing it all for free.Walker and a photographer in Olathe, Kansas, are part of the 10,000 Headshots Project. Hundreds of photographers across the United States are donating their time Wednesday in order to take headshots of 10,000 people who lost their jobs due to COVID-19 and are looking for a new one.“It’s good to know that I’m doing something that made a real difference in a person’s life,” Walker said.The work-based social media site LinkedIn said profiles with professional headshots get 14 times the number of views compared to profiles without a picture.Walker said a good headshot is helpful in any job application.As a people person, he knows people are struggling because of the coronavirus.
