Senator Lindsay Graham has been in office since 2003, and on Tuesday, he secured his fourth term in the Senate by defeating Democrat Jamie Harrison.Around 10 p.m. ET, the Associated Press projected Graham will win reelection. State Senator Marlon Kimpson says Harrison beat a record by raising the most money ever earned by a U.S. Senate candidate.“Who would have ever thought that an African American from a deeply red state would outraise his opponent and raise a sum of 0 million and lead in the polls,” Kimpson said.State Senator Kimpson says Harrison would like to expand access to affordable healthcare and take on criminal justice reform. On the other hand, Senator Graham is known in the Senate for his advocacy of a strong national defense and aggressive interventionist foreign policy.“We looked to Senator Graham for a level of calmness, a reasonable and principled approach. Particularly when he was paling around with Senator John McCain. We looked to those two Republicans to be truly bipartisan and advocate for their respective states,” Kimpson said. However, State Senator Kimpson says U.S. Senator Graham had shown a very partisan approach since President Donald Trump got elected. City Councilor Perry Keith Waring agrees.“Believe it or not I have been a fan of Lindsey Graham for a lot of years. But it seems to me since John McCain died, he is not the moderate voice or somewhat independent thinking person that he once was," Waring said.KJ Kearney, a voter in his 30s, says Harrison understands the voice of all people. “I think the thing that he does understand is Black people are not a monolith. There are conservative Black people, there are liberal Black people, there are all types. And I think he sees the humanity in us and will accept us as the totality of Blackness and not just the Black block that voted for him or didn’t vote for him," Kearney said. If Harrison had won, South Carolina would have been the first state in U.S. history to be simultaneously represented by two Black senators, the AP reported. 2050

Something you may not think about discussing over your Thanksgiving meal on Thursday are the health conditions in your family.“I think it's particularly important this year in the COVID landscape ,because the last thing we want are additional conditions for a person to face if they're already at exposure for COVID,” said John Schall, CEO of the Caregiver Action Network.Thanksgiving is also National Family Health History Day.Schall says it's extremely common that people don't know the details of their family history when it comes to certain conditions. That could be everything from high blood pressure to heart issues. It's not an easy conversation to have, but the holiday, especially if it's happening over Zoom this year, can make the topic easier to bring up.“When you make it clear that it's really in everybody's best interest that we know what diseases that the aunts and uncles and grandparents and everybody faced is really to everybody's benefit, then maybe it's a little easier to have the conversation,” said Schall.Typically, Thanksgiving is also a time you can check in on family members you haven't see in person for several months. If those in-person visits aren't happening because of COVID-19, the Caregiver Action Network says you want to make sure you're asking questions over a video chat that you'd normally be able to observe in person. That includes things like making sure your family member doesn't have bills pilling up, or there aren't rugs or other hazards in their home that could cause them to fall. 1541

Someone just had to spoil the party. The Beyoncé/Jay-Z spectacle that is "On the Run II" was wrapping up its Saturday night stop in Atlanta when a man ran up on stage and bolted after the couple. He actually got close enough to, as police put it, push Jay-Z -- but the entertainer and his wife are fine. The incident made for one final "what just happened?" moment to close out a show that already had plenty of "what just happened?" moments (albeit, of the good kind). Here's what happened:The Carters were walking off the stage, after tag-teaming through two-and-a-half hours of their respective back catalogs at Atlanta's Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The last few strains of "Apesh*t" were closing out the show with a bevy of dancers doing their thing. 753
