(KGTV) -- At least three people were hospitalized Wednesday morning after a multi-vehicle collision on a La Mesa-area freeway caused by a wrong-way driver.At around 4:30 a.m., the California Highway Patrol received reports of a gray Honda According traveling the wrong way on northbound state Route 125 near Grossmont Boulevard.The CHP said the Accord collided with a Toyota SUV, disabling both vehicles. According to the CHP, the wrong-way driver ditched his damaged vehicle in the middle lanes and then left the scene on foot.Moments later, several other vehicles crashed into the Accord-Toyota wreckage.ABC 10News learned at least three people in the second crash were taken to the hospital with injuries of unknown severity.The incident forced the closure of all northbound SR-125 lanes at Lemon Avenue at around 4:50 a.m. Lanes were expected to reopen by 6 a.m.A description of the wrong-way driver was not immediately available. 958

(KGTV) — East County residents say they're behind a local dog rescue's efforts to provide for canines, but that the facility has been operating dangerously.Suzy Avalos lives next door to the Happy Hearts German Shepherd Rescue, which is run out of a La Mesa home. She tells 10News the dogs that reside in the yard have had no problem jumping the fence."You see the fence is not high. It's right up here. The dogs don't have a problem jumping over this fence," Avalos said. "I've lived here for 10 years and it's just progressively getting worse."RELATED: Disease fatal to dogs that can spread to humans on the rise in some statesWhen the dogs escape they can also be aggressive, neighbors say, with at least one dangerous incident being recorded. 10News obtained records from the La Mesa Police Department showing at least 28 instances where officers responded to the dog rescue to help round up escaped canines or help people who say they were attacked by the dogs."We have a lot of people on this street that have young kids and I'm just worried a child is going to get bit or something worse is going to happen," Avalos said. "They're out of control and she should not have a license."The woman who runs the dog rescue, Donna, declined an interview by 10News. LAWRENCEBURG, Ind. -- Part of the popular RiverWatch restaurant on the Ohio River has vanished, and nobody seems quite sure where it went.The floating restaurant had a tiki bar attached on a separate barge. Authorities don't know if it sank or floated away. (KGTV) -- The woman authorities say was hit and killed by a suspected DUI driver Monday evening has been identified as 41-year-old Susana Gotell. Throughout the day Tuesday, flowers brought to the area by residents adorned the place where Gotell was killed. Meanwhile, the Santee man who officers say was driving under the influence could face first-degree murder charges.CHP says the driver, Michael Woodfill, 46, hit a fence on North Woodside Avenue around 6:30 p.m. When Woodfill tried to get back onto the road, he overcorrected, crossing both lanes and hitting the jogger.RELATED: Woman hit, killed by suspected DUI driver in LakesideOfficers returned to the scene Tuesday to reconstruct the scene. Woodfill had a DUI back in 2016 after officers say he was found with an excessive blood alcohol level. One month later, his license was reinstated with restrictions. Earlier this year, Woodfill’s license was also suspended after officials say he had no insurance, but was later reinstated five days later.When the crash happened Monday, Woodfill was driving on a restricted license. Woodfill is currently being held without bail after being arrested for felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter. 1256
