A new lawsuit says a woman who tried on lipstick at a Sephora cosmetics store in Hollywood, California got herpes from the sample.The unidentified woman claims it happened at the store in October 2015, according to a report by TMZ. She ended up with herpes on her lip and says she never had it before the visit to the store.The documents say the store failed to clearly warn the woman of the risk of getting a disease from using samples of lipstick there.The lawsuit says the woman is suing over the emotional distress for getting an "incurable lifelong affliction." Sephora did not respond to the TMZ article, but a spokesperson for the retailer did respond to Fashionista, saying the health and safety of its customers is a priority. A new scientific model estimates 130,000 lives could be saved by next Spring if there is universal mask use in public. Without changes, the United States could be ontrack to record more than 500,000 deaths from COVID-19 by March 2021, the study reports.“We find that achieving universal mask use (95% mask use in public) could be sufficient to ameliorate the worst effects of epidemic resurgences in many states,” the study stated.The findings, published Friday in the journal Nature Medicine, found even if 85 percent mask use was achieved and current social distance policies remained in effect, it could result in an additional 95,000 lives being saved.According to the study, the national average for self-reported mask wearing is at just 49 percent as of late-September.The researchers ran scientific model projects using information from states about when they would implement stricter lockdown or stay-at-home orders to make their outcomes as realistic as possible based on current stated parameters and orders.These findings come as the U.S. struggles with a resurgence of COVID-19 cases.The country recorded more than 75,000 new infections Thursday alone, according to the New York Times.There are now a total of more than 8,450,000 positive COVID-19 cases since the pandemic started in the country, and at least 223,000 deaths from the disease. 1362

A Rikers Island inmate is back in police custody in New York after attempting to escape on Thursday, officials said.Around 12:30 p.m., the detainee climbed a recreation yard fence and ran to the shoreline, Deputy Commissioner of Public Information Peter Thorne said.The detainee was apprehended by K-9 Correction Officers Larry McCardle and Gregory Braska, Correction Officers' Benevolent Association President Elias Husamudeen said."These two brave officers immediately jumped into action to bring the inmate back into custody without any regards for their own safety," Husamudeen said. That's significant for anxiety."And while the behavior itself isn't necessarily incriminating, Dr. Brown said it's all about the context."And that's particularly - the elevator thing was extremely out of context," he explained.Once inside the elevator, he noted how - multiple times - Paddock backs into the corner even though he's alone."And the corner he chose was the corner with the camera, such that the camera showed the top of his head and not his face," Dr. Brown said. "Even if there wasn't a camera, that's odd behavior.
