CARLSBAD, Calif. (KGTV) — The Dooley family woke up Wednesday morning to some deflated holiday joy outside their home on Highland Drive."A lot of sadness. It really broke our heart, " said homeowner Gavin Dooley.A check of the surveillance video revealed the culprit. Just before 3 a.m., a black SUV pulls up next to their home, as someone emerges from the passenger side and climbs over their four-foot gate. Moments later, the person throws himself onto a large inflatable of a Santa and his fish taco truck.The scrooge tore through their yard, destroying all of their giant Christmas inflatables."Must have had a good pop on the first one. Second one, he jumps on it twice," said Dooley.That inflatable was a 9-foot tall television, reflecting the images of a projector from the movie "A Christmas Story." The vandal then tackles the final inflatable, which sported North Pole penguins.The end result: 0 dollars worth of inflatables destroyed."Pretty unrepairable. Just like a balloon, they’re popped. There's a huge tear in them," said Dooley.Dooley, who has three children, says his youngest -- his 9-year-old son -- was the most distraught.Also dismayed, some neighbors who bring their toddler girl to see the inflatables every day. That morning, she was nearly in tears."She kept saying, 'Porque? Why? Why would they do this?'" said Dooley.It’s a question Dooley has asked himself. Why? And why at the end of a tough year when holiday cheer is so needed."We were hoping Christmas decorations would bring a lot of joy to people. This turns that joy into sadness," said Dooley.Dooley would like to put up some smaller inflatables but is worried they could also be targeted.The family has filed a police report. Cathedral High School in Indianapolis announced the official name change of its entrepreneurship course to the "Chris Beaty Entrepreneurship Class."Chris Beaty was an Indianapolis business owner and former Indiana University football player who was beloved in the community.Beaty was one of two men who were shot and killed when violence erupted during police brutality demonstrations in Downtown Indianapolis. He was 38."There was so much pain caused by Chris's tragic murder, I felt it was too narrow to hear him only referred to as a former Cathedral and IU football player," Alex Purvis, who played football with Beaty at Cathedral High School in the early 2000's, said. "Chris was so much more than that, and I want to do my part to make sure his legacy continues at Cathedral."Purvis spearheaded the initiative to make the name change of the private school's entrepreneur course because he wanted to make sure Beaty was known for more than just football. Purvis says Beaty was not only an entrepreneur but says he was a friend, he was compassionate, and he always made people feel welcomed."He made everyone feel like a VIP. Few people have that ability," Purvis said.Purvis only knew Beaty for one year at Cathedral — but that was enough for Beaty to make an impact on Purvis.Purvis described himself as, "the smallest kid on the football team" his sophomore year, and Beaty was a senior star-athlete."Years later, when I started running into Chris downtown and various events, Chris always made me feel like I was the star quarterback on Cathedral's team. For no other reason than that was his genuine personality—he made people feel special. His warmth and positivity was infectious," Purvis said.Purvis said to best #LiveLikeChris, it's fitting to name Cathedral's entrepreneurship class in Beaty's honor. Beaty was always working on "the next big thing," Purvis said."I think the root of entrepreneurship is having the ability to take an idea and outlining the steps to make it happen," Purvis said. "That's exactly what Chris did. He was a doer, a leader, and a builder—his friends turned into business partners and vice versa."Both Cathedral High School and Indiana University have also created the "Chris Beaty Foundation Scholarship," in his honor."Using that foundation and exploring entrepreneurship in high school will hopefully open students' eyes to all of the possibilities they have in college and beyond. Students should know they are capable of creating their path, just like Chris Beaty did," Purvis said. "And they should know that they, too, have what it takes to live like Chris. Chad Daybell was arrested Tuesday after investigators recovered what they believe are human remains on his property.A search warrant was executed at his home in Salem, Idaho Tuesday morning in connection to the search for two missing children — his 7-year-old stepson Joshua "JJ" Vallow and 17-year-old stepdaughter Tylee Ryan.The remains have not been identified.Police took Daybell into custody about a mile from his home as numerous police officers and FBI agents served the search warrant. He was booked into the Fremont County Jail several hours later. Specific charges were not disclosed, but authorities did say they were felony charges and that he was being held with no bond.East Idaho News reports Daybell's car was stopped about a mile from his home and police took him into custody.According to a news release from the Rexburg Police Department, its officers, with the assistance of the FBI and the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office, served the search warrant around 7 a.m. Tuesday.FBI Public Affairs Specialist for the Salt Lake office, Sandra Barker, has confirmed that the FBI is assisting with the search warrant.She told CourtTV there are about 20 FBI personnel on scene helping, including agents and support staff.The warrant is sealed, meaning that the information is only available to law enforcement officers working on this case.Numerous roads around the home are closed and drivers are being re-routed.Chad and Lori Vallow Daybell were found living in Hawaii in January. Kaua'i Police and Rexburg Police served search warrants there on January 25.Lori Vallow Daybell was arrested on February 20, and has been in an Idaho jail ever since, despite several attempts to lower her bail.Chad Daybell married Lori Vallow not long after his wife, Tammy, died of reported natural causes.The Idaho Attorney General is investigating possible murder and conspiracy in her death.This is not the first time the Salem home has been searched by law enforcement officials. 1984
