The NAACP has filed a lawsuit against Postmaster General Louis DeJoy, claiming that he is attempting to "disenfranchise voters of color" amid the coronavirus pandemic. The lawsuit, filed Thursday in Washington, D.C. District Court, asks the court to declare DeJoy's recent operational changes as "invalid" and against the law as well prevent DeJoy from implementing further policy changes that were announced on July 10."As the country faces an uphill battle against COVID-19 and systemic racism, we're witnessing a significant onslaught against our postal system at a time when prompt mail delivery matters more than ever, especially for voters of color," Derrick Johnson, the President and CEO of the NAACP, said in a statement. "This willful and blatant attempt to obstruct the mail system amidst a pandemic and on the precipice of a pivotal election is a direct threat to the people of this nation's right to vote in a fair and free election."On Tuesday, DeJoy said in a statement that the USPS would pause the implementation of the proposed operational changes until after the November election. However, it's unclear if the agency would restore any mail sorting equipment that had been taken offline between the July 10 policy changes and Tuesday's statement.President Donald Trump has been staunchly opposed to universal mail-in voting, claiming that such policies would result in widespread voter fraud despite ample evidence to the contrary. Earlier this month, Trump said that he was hesitant to approve more funding for the USPS in order to curb the expansion of mail-in voting. 1596
The lawyer representing Stormy Daniels, the porn star suing President Donald Trump, claimed Friday that she has faced physical threats."My client was physically threatened to stay silent about what she knew about Donald Trump," Michael Avenatti told CNN's Chris Cuomo on "New Day." He said more details would be forthcoming in Daniels' upcoming interview on CBS's "60 Minutes," which is scheduled to air later this month."She's going to be able to provide very specific details about what happened here," Avenatti said. He would not answer whether or not it was someone close to the President who threatened her. 620

The NFL Draft begins on Thursday, and this year's NFL Draft could contain one of the deepest pool of quarterbacks in Draft history. According to most NFL Draft experts, five college quarterbacks will likely be selected in the first round on Thursday. The group includes USC's Sam Darnold, Oklahoma's Baker Mayfield, Wyoming's Josh Allen, UCLA's Josh Rosen and Louisville's Lamar Jackson. The first team to pick on Thursday is Cleveland, who likely will select one of the five quarterbacks. Darnold and Mayfield are the leading candidates to be selected first overall, but Allen's stock has risen, and if he isn't selected by the Browns, he will likely still be a Top 10 draft choice. Here is what to look for this weekend:The basicsThe NFL Draft is being held in Dallas' AT&T Stadium. The first round will be Thursday, beginning at 8 p.m. Each teach will have 10 minutes to make a selection during the first round. Friday will have round Nos. 2 and 3, and Saturday will have round Nos. 3-7. Teams will have seven minutes per selection on Friday, and five minutes per selection in rounds 3-6, and four minutes per pick in the final round. Who will attend? All teams will send a small delegation to the draft site, which sometimes will include GMs, coaches, former players and team owners. Those delegations are in direct contact with team personnel at the team's home office, where scouts and coaches can freely deliberate options. Also, a small number of players are invited. This year, 22 players were officially invited to the draft. Those players will get to go on stage when their name is called, and be presented with a jersey, and meet with the media for interviews. Who should my team pick?In the first-round, unless it is a future franchise quarterback, a player who will have an immediate and noticeable impact. In the next few rounds, these players should hopefully compete for starting jobs as rookies. In the later rounds, teams pick players to round out rosters, and potentially compete for starting job. 2018 NFL Draft orderRound 1: 2102
