Hillary Clinton told CNN on Wednesday that it is time to abolish the Electoral College, part of a sweeping interview where the former Democratic nominee sought to explain why she lost the 2016 election.Clinton, in the interview with CNN's Anderson Cooper, displayed her animus for fired FBI Director James Comey, reflected on her love for the people -- namely former President Bill Clinton -- who helped her get through the crushing loss and blasted the arcane election body that she believes helped Donald Trump win the presidency. 540

Georgia Sec. of State Brad Raffensperger said Wednesday that the state would conduct a hand recount in the 2020 presidential election.Raffensperger said a hand recount would help reassure voters of the integrity of the election. According to The Associated Press, Raffensperger says he wants the process to begin this week and expects the recount to be finished by Nov. 20.Under Georgia law, candidates are entitled to request a recount if the outcome percentage is within 0.5%. Biden currently holds a 0.28% lead in the state. Raffensperger says once the hand recount is finished, the losing candidate can then request a second machine hand recount. The presidential race between Donald Trump and Joe Biden in the state remains too close to call, though Biden holds a lead of more than 14,000 votes in the state with 99% of the vote count.Recounts typically only affect the outcome of about a few hundred votes. In a 2016 recount of the presidential election in Wisconsin — which went to Trump by a margin of about 20,000 votes — the outcome only shifted about 500 votes. A recount in Florida in 2000 did have an impact on the election, as it was the tipping-point state in the election and was decided by about 500 votes.Officials in Georgia have not reported any systematic issues with the vote that would indicate widespread issues in tallying.Even if the vote count were to flip in Georgia, Biden is projected to still have more than the required 270 electoral votes to claim the presidency. The Associated Press projects that Biden has picked up 290 electoral votes with Georgia still too close to call. 1616

HONG KONG – Hong Kong Disneyland is closing again due to COVID-19 concerns, according to multiple reports. In a statement obtained by CNN and CNBC, a Disney spokesperson said the resort will temporarily close starting on July 15.Disney says the closure is in line with COVID-19 prevention efforts that government and public health authorities are implementing across Hong Kong as the area experiences a spike in coronavirus cases. The spokesperson added that the resort’s hotels will remain open with “adjusted levels of services.”The closure comes less than a month after the park reopened to visitors on June 18 after first closing in January, when the coronavirus pandemic began in China. When the park reopened, officials implemented a list of health and safety measures, including social distancing in queues, restaurants, attraction vehicles and other facilities. Character experiences with close interaction were also suspended. And visitors were required to wear masks. The Hong Kong attraction was the second Disney-themed park to reopen worldwide, behind Shanghai Disneyland. The latest to reopen was Disney World in Orlando, Florida, over the weekend. Many are concerned about Disney World reopening as Florida continues to report major spikes in COVID-19. Just Sunday, the state shattered the national record for the largest single-day increase in positive coronavirus cases. California had the previous record of daily positive cases — 11,694, set on Wednesday. New York had 11,571 on April 15. 1512

HARTSHORNE, Okla. – A veteran says he is being kicked out of his home by the City of Hartshorne.William Smith has called a camper home for the last eight years on property that he owns. Now, Hartshorne is telling him to pack it all up and find somewhere else to live.William Smith said, "The hookups were here: water, sewer, and electric. Everything was here. I just figured since I had already been living in my RV and it was mine and it was paid for and I got my property paid for, I thought I was good to go for many, many years."Smith was a Navy radar engineer, constantly moving around."To get all of my equipment on an airplane was not a thing that you could really do," he said.He tinkers in his garage on the property, which is the main reason he bought the land, and generally keeps to himself. So, the veteran was surprised when he the police handed him an eviction notice. It said he had 120 days to relocate. Due to a new ordinance passed by the city council, recreational vehicles, travel trailers and campers no longer specify as a structure for permanent living in the city limits. The city claims the reason is "preservation of the public peace, health, and safety.""They told me there's no provision for a grandfather clause or anything that would allow me to stay here," Smith said,Although some may be concerned about property value, most of Smith's neighbors say they would rather see a camper with a well-kept yard next door to them than an abandoned house like several on Smith’s street. Now, the retired veteran is left in limbo, trying to figure out his next move in life."I bought the place so I could retire here and work in my garage to do my piddling and my projects and all that. So, if I have to move this thing out, I really have no other home," he said.Mayor Joy Cline told a local newspaper the city would work with the elderly and disabled and would not leave anyone homeless under this new ordinance. However, she did not respond to a request for comment. 2016

GARDEN GROVE (AP/CNS) - Mexican authorities say a United States couple missing for a week in Tijuana have been found buried on the property of one of their homes in Tijuana.Baja California state prosecutor Hirán Sánchez said Friday that the bodies of María Teresa López and Jesús Rubén López were discovered with the help of cadaver dogs. Authorities said they have arrested and charged the couple's son-in-law. Officials say the preliminary investigation suggests the motive was a monetary dispute over rent payments. The couple had crossed the border to collect rent payments for apartments they own in Tijuana."I don't have confirmation these are our victims,'' Garden Grove Police Department Lt. Carl Whitney said. "[Tijuana investigators] have not talked to our detectives."Investigators in Mexico have been tight-lipped about the investigation. But Whitney said he has seen reports from Mexican news sources that during the execution of a search warrant on the couple's property Friday, they found the bodies buried in a patio or courtyard area.Lopez and Guillen drove a pickup to Tijuana last Friday to collect rent from tenants at properties in Mexico, Whitney said. The two were due back last Friday afternoon, but when their daughter could not get in touch with them, she called police about 7:10 p.m. last Friday, he said. The daughter was tracking the two through a "find my phone'' online service for iPhones, and it showed that the couple was still at their Tijuana property, but a relative there said they weren't around, Whitney said. Then the phone went dead and she could not track them anymore, he said. The pickup was found near their property, he said. 1678
