A surprising discovery in a local park has St. Pete police giving three young kids ages 8, 7, and 5, a much-deserved shout out.On Sunday, Abigail Ellis, 7, her brother Harry, 5, and a neighborhood friend were cleaning up trash from Forrest Bluff Park when they came across a revolver in the creek bed.“I said there is a gun come see it,” Abigail said. Instead of picking up the gun Abigail said she knew better.“Mom and dad taught me about guns, and sometimes I watch movies, and there would be guns and killing,” Abigail said. Abigail ran to her grandma’s house, who then called her dad, who called the police.“Very proud,” Harry Ellis said of his two kids. “Just glad they knew not to touch it. I think they’ll get a little ice cream tonight."When St. Pete police arrived, it turned out to be a BB gun.Abigail said she hopes other kids follow their lead.“I feel good. I just feel proud,” Abigail said. 916

An Amazon delivery driver was fired and arrested after police say she stole a dachshund from in front of a Texas couple's home and attempted to sell it online. The suspect, 22-year-old Mycah Keyona Wade, was in a Weatherford neighborhood on July 5 making deliveries as a contract driver for Amazon when she spotted the dog, Parker County Sheriff's Office Deputy Danie Huffman said. The dachshund, a 2-year-old named "RJ," had darted out of his home as his owners opened the door to go to the grocery store and ran across the front yard, Huffman said.Wade snatched the dog from the street in front of the home, Huffman said. A landscaper who reported having a conversation with the suspect about the dog and private security footage from the neighborhood helped police identify Wade. After a warrant was issued for her arrest, she turned herself in and initially denied she'd taken the dog.She later turned RJ over to investigators, who returned the dog to its original owners."This does not reflect the high standards we have for delivery service partners. We're glad the customer has been reunited with their pet, and we have been in touch with them to make it right. We take these matters seriously and these individuals are no longer delivering Amazon packages," Amazon said in a statement to CNN.Wade told police she asked landscapers where the dog came from but they were unable to tell her. However, landscapers told police they pointed directly at the dog's home when she asked. An ad for RJ was located on Craigslist, Parker County Sheriff's Property Crimes Investigator Ethan Stark said, according to the Cleburne Times-Review."There was no contact information, but we're pretty sure it was RJ that was for sale on Craigslist for 0," Stark said. "The ad immediately changed once I contacted the suspect."Wade was arrested on July 16 on one count of theft of property, which is a class B misdemeanor, Huffman said. She was held on ,000 bond, which she posted later that day, and was released. 2012

A study released Wednesday by the British Medical Journal claims that vegetarians could have a higher risk of a stroke than meat eaters. The study followed more than 48,000 participants in the UK for nearly 18 years. The study placed participants in three groups: Meat eaters, fish eaters and vegetarians. The study claims that vegetarians were 20 percent more likely to have a stroke than meat eaters, which equaled to be three additional haemorrhagic stroke victims per 1,000 participants. Before you change your eating habits, you should know that meat eaters were more likely to develop a heart disease than vegetarians. The difference between meat eaters and vegetarians was 10 additional cases of heart disease per 1,000 participants. According to the British Medical Journal, previous studies on the correlation between a vegetarian diet and strokes only reported stroke mortality. In those studies, there was no significant difference between vegetarians and meat eaters in stroke mortality. The study did adjust for self reported high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol, diabetes, and body mass index, which suggests that part of the associations might be attributed to these factors, it says."However, the lower risk in vegetarians and vegans remained marginally significant after adjustment for all of these factors," the study said.To read the full study, click 1389
