CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Firefighters are battling a major fire in Corpus Christi following a pipeline explosion along the city's refinery row.The blast happened just after 8:05 a.m. near Lantana and I-37, possibly at EPIC Products near Lantana and Navigation.Firefighters said the fire ignited a barge, which became fully engulfed. The fire then spread from the pipeline to the grain elevator.KRIS reports that multiple people during the explosion ended up in the water.CHRISTUS Spohn Shoreline representatives said they are treating four people from the explosion. The extent of their injuries is unknown at this time. Two victims are being flown to Brooke Army Medical Center burn units in San Antonio.Corpus Christi Mayor Joe McComb said there is a search and rescue operation for four people who are still missing.KRIS has learned that EPIC Products had a brand new pipeline built for loading. It was reportedly going in at the facility when there was a pipeline rupture at the barge loading dock.According to Lieutenant Marina Lyons with the US Coast Guard, a dredge struck a submerged pipeline causing a fire in the Corpus Christi ship channel. COVID is wreaking havoc in the Southeastern Conference.On Wednesday, the conference announced that they postponed the No. 12 Georgia Bulldogs vs. Missouri Tigers football game due to a COVID outbreak within the Tigers football program.With Missouri already playing Dec. 12, the conference pushed back the Georgia and Missouri's game to Dec. 19, the conference said in a press release.This is the fourth game the conference has had to postpone this week."While it is unfortunate to have multiple postponements in the same week, we began the season with the understanding interruptions to the schedule were possible and we have remained focused throughout the season on the health of everyone around our programs," said SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey said in the news release. They hold worship services and baptisms along beaches and waterfronts.It is the second 'Saturate OC' event in San Diego County in back to back weeks."It would be hard to understand if you're not a believer, but we prayed about it, and thought this was the next place we were supposed to come," said Parker Green, co-director for 'Saturate OC.'They held a worship service in Oceanside on Aug. 28, which drew hundreds of people. There were people seen not wearing face coverings or social distancing at that event.Green says they have face coverings at the event to people who want them. They also provide hand sanitizer. He also added he doesn't know of one person that got sick from their events."People can wear masks or not, we tell them to bring masks on our social media, but I think the crowd we tend to draw would be folks that would wear a mask in a public setting, especially outside," he said.People at the Coronado worship service appeared to be more spaced apart than those in the Oceanside event.Members of the county's Safe Reopen Compliance Team were at the event talking to people. (KGTV) San Diego Police Department is investigating a car meet-up that turned into brief reckless driving exhibition in Clairemont.Viewer video shows several cars doing donuts and burnouts for hundreds of spectators at in major shopping center off Balboa Ave from Friday night.The drivers almost hit people trying to film them and almost crash into fences on the property.Those who attended say the meet-up was organized through private social media accounts.“It’s scary because it starts right next to you and it happens with like a flick of a switch,” said one gearhead who wants to remain anonymous to protect his identity.An SDPD officer is shown responding to the incident in the video and appears to be harassed by the crowd.“People were throwing trash at him and there was a lot of middle fingers that were thrown up,” said another car enthusiast who was the event, “I thought the cop was going to get attacked.”The anonymous gearheads say what happened Friday night is not indicative of car culture and they were upset with how people treated the officer.“I’ve been to multiple meets where… we get to look at some nice cars but then there’s meet’s like this that get out a hand and then cause a horrible image for us,” said the anonymous attendee.SDPD has not clarified if any arrests were made during the incident. 1375
