SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The Barrio Logan College Institute is moving into a newer, bigger location, thanks to the generosity of an area businessman.Nicholas Aguilera, who's father started Diego and Son Printing in 1972, is letting the BLCI lease the company's old building for 20 years, with an option to buy."I think it's awesome, it's fantastic," Aguilera says. "I think my dad would be very, very happy and proud."Aguilera says his father always wanted the business to be part of the community. Turning it's original location into an educational site fits with Diego's vision and passion for improving the Barrio."I see a future for our students," says BLCI Interim CEO Barbara Ybarra.The Institute works with kids from the 3rd grade through high school. It helps mentor them as they try to become the first person in their family to go to college. Ybarra says 100% of the students that complete the program go to college.The new building will allow the BLCI to serve even more students."These upgrades are going to help them compete technologically with the other students they're competing against to get into college," says Ybarra.She also says there's symmetry in taking over the old printing building."Diego used to print notebooks and pads of paper for the students to use and take to school," she says. "I see it coming full circle. It's a great legacy for their family."The BLCI is trying to raise .5 million to buy the building. So far they've been able to secure .1 million in donations. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The Grinch is back yet again to steal Christmas from San Diego.The Old Globe Theatre's production of "Dr. Suess's How the Grinch Stole Christmas!" returns to San Diego for its run from Nov. 4 to Dec. 24. Back for its 20th year, the holiday classic brings Whoville to the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in Balboa Park. The Grinch, played by Edward Watts, will embark on a quest to stop Christmas from gracing the town of Whoville, featuring the songs "This Time of Year," "Santa for a Day," and "Fah Who Doraze."RELATED: Holiday family fun around San Diego this seasonBut the action isn't just on the stage.On Sunday, Nov. 12, the show will kick off with the 12th annual tree lighting outside the Globe with a special performance by the cast for free. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The government is sweetening the deal for investors who put their money into San Diego's most under-served neighborhoods, but the offer could be having a negative effect on the people who live in them.A new study from Zillow says prices in so-called opportunity zones grew 20 percent in a year after they received the government designation. That designation, part of 2017 tax reform, offered investors capital gains tax breaks for investing in the areas, which the IRS deems "economically distressed."San Diego County has about 30 of these zones, most of them concentrated in the city of San Diego's inner core. Zillow says the Colina del Sol neighborhood near City Heights, parts of Golden Hill and University Heights are the areas that could see the most investment. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Surveillance video reveals a City Heights man was seconds away from a showdown with an armed intruder who got away with a "priceless" stone.Along 41st Street, past 6 p.m. Friday, a man whose face is hidden by a bandanna, was recorded creeping into D.R. Peck's back yard from a canyon. "The full mask is the scary part. Notice he has gloves," said Peck.In the video, the burglar discovers an unlocked door and enters a bedroom. More than 10 minutes later, he emerges with a briefcase. He drops it off before heading back inside. Not long after, the cameras show Peck wheeling in the trash can near the front of the home after returning home from running errands. At the same time, the intruder — likely hearing Peck return — bails out of the house through the back entrance. A flash of a knife seen in his hand."I walk in and see a mess ... Oh my God. Someone's been in my house," said Peck.Amid the ransacked bedroom, there were missing items: electronics, a special edition "The Flash" comic book worth more than 0, jewelry, and a red heart stone that he bought for his wife Wendy 10 years ago after proposing. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Surveillance video captured the moment after a thief stole a woman's wallet inside a Midway District grocery store.According to San Diego Crime Stoppers, the theft happened on Sept. 23 inside the Ralph’s grocery store located at 3345 Sports Arena Blvd.While the 73-year-old female victim was in the freezer section, the man waited for the victim to open a freezer door and then approached her shopping cart. The suspect quickly removed the victim's wallet from her purse, which was placed at the top of the shopping cart.The victim was right next to the cart but was looking inside a freezer when the theft occurred.The suspected thief walked away without the victim realizing what had happened. The total loss of the wallet and cash inside it is over ,500.Investigators reviewed store surveillance footage, which showed the man following the victim throughout the store and appearing to target her.The suspected thief is described as a white male, approximately 5’10“ tall, 175 lbs., with tanned skin.
