SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The relatives of a toddler who died from E. Coli he contracted from San Diego County Fair animals held a fundraiser for his parents Saturday night. The benefit to help the family of 2-year-old Jedidiah King Cabezuela started at 4 p.m. at Rosie O’Grady’s restaurant in Normal Heights. Jedidiah’s great uncle Ed Sanford told 10News the boy suffered stomach problems four days after visiting the fair despite washing his hands after visiting the petting zoo. Over the next three days, Jedidiah was in and out of the emergency room before the symptoms worsened. His kidneys began failing, and he died June 24. Coli linked to San Diego County FairSanford says he will always remember Jedidiah as a happy boy, always laughing. “He’s upstairs now, a little angel. I said a little prayer; I told the Lord, I said, you got your hands full,” Sanford said. Sanford says he is glad fair officials shut down the petting zoo. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The purple most restrictive tier for coronavirus guidelines goes into effect Saturday forcing many museums around San Diego County to close their doors once again."It really wasn't a surprise and when this all first started happening I think we realized that there wasn't going to be a magic date that everything was going to be better," James Haddan, Senior Director of Development and External Communications at the Museum of Us, said they've been anticipating the county's fall back into the purple tier."We made some hard choices initially, right away," Haddan said they made difficult cuts to staff at the beginning of the pandemic, hoping to sustain for the next two years."It has been extremely difficult for arts and cultural organizations throughout the city and Balboa Park would be no different," Executive Director of the Balboa Park Cultural Partnership Peter Comiskey said.Comiskey said while many of the museums must close, there are still things to do at the park. The Japanese Friendship Garden, Spanish Village, and restaurants are open.In La Jolla, the Birch Aquarium is shifting too. They reopened in July and are creating as many exhibits as they can outside. (Here is a list of what you can see and touch for a slightly discounted ticket.)The aquarium will be adding more activities in the coming weeks.Back at the park, you can see progress. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The San Diego County District Attorney’s office released Friday a detailed report and video evidence in the death of a woman arrested by San Diego Police. Aleah Jenkins, 24, was arrested Nov. 27 on an outstanding warrant for meth possession during a traffic stop in University City. The video released at a news conference Friday shows Jenkins vomiting in the back of a patrol car. The officer initially called for medical aid but it was called off because Jenkins said her illness was due to pregnancy. That was not true, according to District Attorney Summer Stephan. There were several points when Jenkins yelled and asked for help in the back of the patrol car. Officers took Jenkins to SDPD headquarters downtown, where she collapsed. Jenkins was taken to UC San Diego Medical Center and died Dec. 6. A spokesperson for the Jenkins family said San Diego Police could have prevented Jenkins’ death by getting her help when she said she didn’t feel well.The autopsy indicated Jenkins had PCP, THC, morphine, and meth in her system, but no injuries which would have caused her death. District Attorney Summer Stephan said at a news conference Friday that no charges would be filed against the officer who arrested Jenkins after a careful review of the evidence. "I looked at the fact that at the period of time where he didn't get a prompt response he pulled over he pulled over and physically looked at her,” Stephan said.
