SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Father Joe’s Village and Connections Housing has been activated as rain is set to move in and cold temperatures continue throughout San Diego.The shelter, located at 1501 Imperial Avenue downtown, opens when the temperature is 50 degrees or below and there is a 40 percent chance of rain or exceptional weather conditions.The program, funded by the City of San Diego, provides food and shelter.CLICK HERE FOR TODAYS FORECASTThis is the second time so far this year that the shelter has opened. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - For nearly five months we've completely changed the way we live due to the pandemic.We still don't have many answers and we're aways from things getting back to normal. Psychologists are noticing the impact is huge on their patients and this far into the pandemic, they're seeing burnout."The keyword here is feeling overwhelmed. If you feel overwhelmed there's a strong association to burnout," Licensed Psychologist Dr. Michelle Carcel said.Carcel said if you feel overwhelmed, stop, sit down and figure out what is triggering these strong feelings, "map out what is triggering you the most, so if you're having work stressors, for example, identify the current stressors you're having and problem-solving."She said working on ways to solve those problems will dissipate those feelings.For parents who are juggling multiple roles as school approaches, she said plan it out as well. "Figuring out, okay. what is it I have to do in order to mitigate my roles here and partner with friends family or your spouse in order to make that effective," Carcel said.Carcel said it's important to recognize any anger or irritation that comes up is based on the pain we are feeling, and knowing it's okay to feel this way."Process your grief for the state of the world, process your grief for the current situation, it will help move you forward," she said. "We have never seen anything like this where an entire world has been impacted and we are seeing detrimental effects."Ways to heal include finding joy. She suggests creating a list of things that make you happy so you can go to them at a moment's notice.Carcel added that creating a happy playlist, dancing, picking up a hobby, or checking off items on your bucket list."Right now is a wonderful time if you've ever wanted to play an instrument this is the time to learn, if you've wanted to learn a foreign language this is the time to learn," Carcel said, noting the most important thing is to remember this is not forever.She said you can do it and you have a support system, people who love and support you. Just because you have to be distant physically, doesn't mean you have to be isolated."We can take anything that's negative and produce a positive outcome as long as we have a good strategy to do it," she said. 2295

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Health officials have confirmed a positive case of COVID-19 at an assisted living center in the College Area.On Wednesday, 10News tried to get answers from Stellar Care Center, located just south of the College Area. On Tuesday night, San Diego County Public Health Officer Dr. Wilma Wooten revealed that they were looking into a patient at the home who may have tested positive. “Our staff [is] investigating this situation and once it's determined if there's individuals or patients with influenza-like illnesses, the staff there will collect specimen and send them to our lab for testing,” she stated.Across the country, concerns over the spread of the virus in nursing homes continues to grow. In Kirkland, Wash., an outbreak of the virus at the Life Care assisted living center lead to at least 35 reported deaths, according the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In Louisiana, seven deaths have been linked to a retirement community out of New Orleans. 10News reached out to Stellar Care Center and San Diego County for additional information. A spokesperson for San Diego County writes, "I can confirm that there is a positive case of COVID-19 at Stellar Care Assisted Living. Skilled nursing facilities throughout the County have amplified their protocols to address the COVID-19 pandemic using strategies similar to those recommended by the County of San Diego in responding to an influenza outbreak. These protocols include limiting the amount of people in congregant settings (including meals, activities and visitors) while amplifying cleaning and sanitation measures and providing additional training for staff."The State Department of Social Services writes, “In order to protect confidentiality, we are not able confirm or provide details regarding specific individuals or locations.” 1835

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Francis Parker School officials say a vendor that handles some of the school's backup data was victim of a ransomware attack in May. The school says third-party cloud computing provider, Blackbaud, Inc., notified them on July 16 of the cyberattack. Criminals demanded payment in return for destroying information they copied from Blackbaud's database, the school said.School officials warned parents that the compromised database may have included contact information, birth dates, and a history of relationships with the school, including donation dates and amounts. The school said the attackers did not access credit card information, social security, or other personal financial information and had no access to the school's systems.Blackbaud paid the ransomware and says based on the nature of the incident and investigations with law enforcement, there's no reason to believe any data went beyond the cybercriminals or was, or will be, misused.Francis Parker officials said they are reevaluating their relationship with Blackbaud.
