SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Bystanders captured video of a truck involved in a crash near San Diego International Airport on Saturday speeding away from the scene.The video begins moments after a three-car crash on N. Harbor Drive at Lee Court around 9:30 a.m. A white truck reportedly slammed into the back of a Ford F-350 and sideswiped a sedan, according to the driver of the sedan, Kathleen Gleason. The driver of the white truck is then seen speeding away, creating a cloud of white smoke, with the driver-side front tire bent sideways. The driver first heads eastbound before turning around at McCain Road and heading westbound. A police vehicle is seen seconds later turning around and pursuing the truck.Gleason, a Lyft driver who was struck by the truck, told ABC 10News the suspect was determined to get out of the area quickly. She said she was in the middle of dropping off a passenger to the airport when she was struck. Thankfully, Good Samaritans gave the passenger a lift the rest of the way, she said.Gleason said police caught up with the driver and arrested the person. ABC 10News reached out to San Diego Police about what charges the driver faces, but have not heard back. 1192

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Consumer prices rose by nearly four percent in San Diego over the last year largely due to an increase in the cost of gasoline, according to a new report by the U.S. Department of Labor. According to the report, prices in the San Diego area rose 3.8 percent over the last 12 months and 1 percent over the last two months. The largest increases stem from household furnishings and operations and housing, which rose by 9.3 and 5.2 percent over the last year. The report points out that an increase in prices for food and energy over the last two months was fueled by higher gas prices. The energy index jumped 11.4 percent over the last two months mainly due to higher gas prices, according to the report. Over the last year, food from home increased by more than 2 percent while food away from home actually decreased by 0.4 percent. California's gas tax will jump by another 5.6 cents per gallon on July 1, 2019. Although the report may seem discouraging, the cost increases were at least partially offset by a 1.1 percent price decline in education and communication. The report shows that items like cereal and baked goods were up by nearly 2 percent from May of 2018 to March of 2019. Apparel was up by more than 6 percent from May of 2018 to March of 2019. Milk and dairy products also rose by 2 percent in the same time period. Consumer prices increased in a similar way in neighboring Los Angeles. Over the last year, prices in Los Angeles rose by more than three percent, but May only saw prices rise by 0.2 percent. The report shows that the cost of household goods and operations rose by nearly 6 percent while housing jumped 4.4 percent. In the west as a whole, consumer prices rose by nearly 3 percent while increasing by 0.5 percent in May. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Days after pleading guilty to misusing campaign funds, Congressman Duncan Hunter has announced he will resign from Congress.Hunter, who represented the 50th District, pleaded guilty Tuesday to a federal charge of conspiracy to misuse campaign funds for personal use. Though after the plea, it wasn't clear if the embattled Congressman would resign.“Shortly after the Holidays I will resign from Congress. It has been an honor to serve the people of California’s 50th District, and I greatly appreciate the trust they have put in me over these last 11 years," Rep. SDCCU Stadium, Qualcomm Stadium, the Murph, whatever you want to call it, the 53-year-old structure is soon to be a San Diego memory."We will start in the next month or so, disposing of the interior the things. When we knock it down, things need to be taken out, or given a new place," said Gina Jacobs, Associate Vice President of Mission Valley Development. "We're going to try and salvage some of the seats, so that we can make those available for sale."The stadium was home to many great San Diego memories. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Border agents arrested 15 people over Presidents’ Day weekend during a smuggling event in Mission Bay.U.S. Border Patrol agents caught the smuggling incident in action on Saturday at about 2 p.m. at a Ski Beach launch ramp. As agents got closer, they say they noticed a large group of people quickly exiting the boat and heading for three vehicles.Agents stopped the individuals from getting away and questioned all 15 people involved in the incident.Agents say six people in the group were suspected of human smuggling and arrested. Five of them are U.S. citizens, including four men ranging from 20 to 30 years old and one 25-year-old woman, according to border officials.The nine other people arrested were male Mexican nationals ranging from 27 to 41 years old who admitted to being illegally present.U.S. Border Patrol seized the boat and three vehicles at the scene. 899
