Gavin Newsom says the state will halt sales of new gasoline-powered passenger cars and trucks by 2035.On Wednesday, he ordered state regulators to come up with requirements to meet that goal. California would be the first state with such a rule, though Germany and France are among 15 other countries that have a similar requirement.Newsom's plan would not ban people from owning gas-powered cars or selling them on the used car market, but it would end the sales of all new gasoline-powered passenger cars and trucks in the state.California already has rules mandating a certain percentage of new car sales be electric or zero-emission vehicles. 678

The dramatic court hearing was also punctuated by a promise from the company's outgoing CEO that nation's largest utility will never again put profits ahead of safety. PG&E CEO Bill Johnson appeared on the company's behalf in Butte County Superior Court to plead guilty to 84 felony counts of involuntary manslaughter. They stem from a November 2018 wildfire ignited by the utility’s crumbling electrical grid. But the 29-year-old's previous encounters with law enforcement are coming under fresh scrutiny after he was named a suspect in a deadly Sunday morning shooting at a Tennessee Waffle House.Reinking's brush with law enforcement in the nation's capital was not his first. DEL MAR, Calif. (KGTV) - The timeline to reopen Jimmy Durante Boulevard in Del Mar has been pushed back to June 4 at the earliest. At Monday’s City Council meeting, city officials said they planned to meet with San Diego County Fair officials on Tuesday. They will discuss a traffic plan as Jimmy Durante Boulevard is a main artery into the fairgrounds. The fair opens May 31 before the road is expected to reopen. The northbound lanes of Jimmy Durante Boulevard, north of Luzon Avenue, closed in late April following a bluff collapse. Del Mar city leaders were hoping to get it reopened by Memorial Day, but a series of complications pushed the timeline back. The schedule could get further delayed due to weather and the Memorial Day holiday. The cost of cleanup and stabilizing the cliff is expected to cost close to million. The city council voted to declare a local emergency which would allow the city to qualify for federal emergency funds to supplement the cost.
