SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Chief Border Patrol Agent Douglas Harrison apologized Wednesday after a binational garden at the border was bulldozed. Harrison said on Twitter he met with Friends of Friendship Park and apologized for the “unintentional destruction of the garden.”“The original intent was to have the garden trimmed. We take full responsibility, are investigating the event, & look forward to working with FoFP on the path forward,” Harrison continued. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Country music lovers in Mission Valley are fighting to keep InCahoots from closing at the end of the year. One woman started a petition on change.org in hopes of saving the beloved bar. Former congressional candidate Morgan Murtaugh started the petition on Sunday. She said she has been going to InCahoots for years and was devastated to find out the bar was sold. The owner tells 10News the land was sold and their lease was not extended. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — County officials closed a portion of La Jolla's coastline after a sewage spill Friday morning.The closure was issued for the area of Playa Del Norte in Windansea, near the 7000 block of Neptune Pl., after a sewage spilled before 9:30 a.m.Seven year La Jolla resident Marc Hirschfield said he was walking his dogs Saturday morning when he noticed the yellow warning signs dotting the beach and asked lifeguards what happened. He said they told him "there was a manhole cover that overflowed and raw sewage spilled into the ocean."Lifeguards told 10News it was a storm drain to blame in the same area.The spill has been contained, according to the County Department of Environmental Health, but there still may be impacts to water quality after 130 gallons of sewage entered the beach area.Warning signs have been placed in the area until samples of the ocean water indicate the water is safe for recreational use. It's not clear how long the area will remain closed.Some beach-goers ignored the signs, others, like surfer Cole Reiner just didn't see them. "Well I went out into the water. I mean contaminated doesn’t sound great, but I was out there and it says may cause illness so that’s not great," he said. Lifeguards couldn't say when the beach would reopen. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- California's energy operator have issued a statewide Flex Alert ahead of anticipated high temperatures this coming weekend.The California Independent System Operator (ISO) is calling for voluntary electricity conservation, from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 14."With high temperatures in the forecast, the power grid operator is predicting an increase in electricity demand, primarily from residential air conditioning use," the ISO said in a statement.In San Diego, an Excessive Heat Warning will be in effect from noon Friday until 8pm Monday from the inland areas to the deserts. The heat will peak on Friday and Saturday with temperatures ranging 5 to 15 degrees above normal.The above-normal temperatures and humidity will stick around through most of next week."Consumers are urged to conserve electricity, especially during the late afternoon and early evening, when the grid is most stressed due to higher demand and solar energy production falling. Consumers are also asked to turn off unnecessary lights, use major appliances before 3 p.m. and after 10 p.m., and set air conditioner thermostats to 78 degrees or higher," the ISO said.Conservation Tips ?
